For those with immersion blenders. What brand is the best to look at. Would not be used daily or even weekly. More like monthly. Anything negative to watch for?

America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Country, Cook's Illustrated all have some great videos on YouTube, rating a wide spectrum of models...
I don't own one (yet), so I cain't offer a personal recommendation, but this is where I'm looking, to start with...
Hopefully, others will chime in, with more info, based upon their purchases...

Don't get a cordless one, I used mine maybe 1x per week... lasted about 6 months. I've been eying a Breville BSB510XL and then a Kitchen aid one for half the price. Then again I may just stick to using my normal blender, though having an immersion unit opened up a few extra possibilities and is MUCH easier to clean than a standard blender.Last edited by ItsAllGoneToTheDogs; December 31, 2018, 10:56 PM.

It’s funny. I have an I-blender and am frequently running up against wanting a traditional blender.
-
Potkettleblack - you got to have both yo' yin and yo' yang! ;-)
BTW, the Breville is a great full-size blender.
-
I don't know if the quality has stayed the same but I've been using this one for over 25 years now
Powerfully blend and whisk with a single appliance using the comfortable Turbo-Twister® 2-Seped Hand Blender from Hamilton Beach.
The bearing finally went on the blender attachment a couple of years ago and somebody gave me a KitchenAid one for Xmas that year to replace it. I hated it! I checked on replacement parts and low and behold Hamilton Beach still makes the exact same model so I ordered a new blender attachment. The KitchenAid has been sitting on the shelf ever since.

Quiet.
12 speeds regular + a turbo speed.
Blue-lit top ring, which twists for speeds, can twist with thumb while holding
Comes with attachments, easy to remove & clean.
We use ours every day for bulletproof coffees, not a day goes by without us using it. Had it a year this month. We've probably put 5 years' use on it for what most people would probably use one. We use it for whisking & soups & stuff too, not just coffee.
Happy choosing!

I bought one just to make the bulletproof coffee with. It is ok, tastes fine, but I didn't notice it did anything for me.
-
realdocBBQ I don't notice it doing anything for me either, but then again I don't notice regular coffee doing anything for me. I guess I'm not that sensitive to caffeine. However, I like the theoretical idea of the high-fat brain food that's in it, but most of all I just absolutely love bulletproof coffee, enjoyable texture.

I have this one. I use immersion blenders all the time.... a lot! Next best thing to a vitamix. Don't pay a bunch of money for one.
I am VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THIS ONE. Yesterday I almost lost a bucket of scratch Gualillo sauce I was blending for tamales. It's crazy powerful and the force literally moved my 8qt Cambro almost off the counter.
I use them for sauces, soups , vinaigrettes etc... gotta have one as they are not expensive even if you only use it 3 -5 times a year.
It's like rope "your gonna want it when you ain't got it."

grantgallagher That was Hilarious!! LMFA!!! jlazar EdF vita mix is awesome. Use them all the time. Purée an avocado in it and see what happens. For the price stick motors kick arse!! Open the drawer! Plug it in, blend in a 2 cup measure, rinse and put away in about 30 seconds. Get them both. VM rule though.

With you, HouseHomey - both great tools!

We have a Braun. Had it for at least 15 years. Don’t use it super frequently, probably monthly, however, it works well and has been solid and thus far trouble free.

Grill: SNS Charcoal Kettle/ Grilla Original / Weber Genesis EP-330 / OK Joe Bronco Drum
Thermometers: Thermapen / iGrill 2 / Fireboard
For Smoke: Chunks / Pellet Tube / Mo Pouch
Sous Vide: Joule / Nomiku WiFi (RIP Nomiku)

I have one they don’t make anymore, so I can’t get the mini-food processor attachment that I really want.
I think it’s a Phillips. If I were buying new, either Breville or Phillips. Probably Breville, so it can match my P-cooker and toaster.

Great recommendation, HH ... thanks! I've been using a plastic 200W Braun for years. It's OK but not up to anything even remotely heavy duty. I've been wanting to replace it for years but the damn thing just. won't. die.Originally posted by HouseHomey View Post
Perhaps if I back my SUV over it a few times while the wife is away at the gym ... hmmmmm ... I think I feel a real sad "accident" coming on soon

Just got one of HouseHomey 's recommended Mueller stick blenders a few weeks ago. I've used it a few times now and as HH said, it's crazy powerful and so far it's pretty much eliminated the need to haul the Vitamix out of the closet, clean it after use, then haul it back again.
Thanks, HH!

I've been getting by with the immersion blender attachment on my Braun hand mixer. It works fine, but since it is plastic it has become stained red with repeated blending of bbq and chile sauces. Cooks Illustrated recommends the Braun MQ505: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EA5ZI2U...oequippilot-20
