I am looking to buy a dehydrator for a gift. An Excalibur is out of my price range. I own a Nesco, and it's okay, but I would like to go a little bit higher end than that. Budget is $100 - $150. Does anyone have a recommendation for a brand/model that fits these criteria?

Sorry Murdy - I have a really cheap off-brand dehydrator for chili's but I'm sure you will get advice here. What are you looking to dehydrate and in what quantities/weights. It will likely help people with recommendations.

Murdy,
This is the one I have from Cabelas. It works just fine for me. I don't use it a ton, but when I do, it works great!
The shelves are pretty cheap plastic so you do have to be kinda carful with them, but the unit works well. At this price point, I am pretty satisfied. It makes some killer jerky for my Alaska and Canada trips.
