Why don't we have any good luck charms associated with our hobby? Or, do we, and I'm just unaware of them.
When I was over in Austria in the 1990s, one of the places we went (when my wife was over) was to Admont, which is in the Gesäuse mountain range in central Austria (Styria).
Beautiful countryside, great place to stay and eat, decent skiing, and a little old lady famous for her hand crafted Kitchen Witches (Küchenhexe).
A Kitchen Witch Doll is a tradition that originated in Eastern Europe. The doll or poppet is a somewhat stereotypical crone, often overweight with a ridiculously large nose riding on a broom, though variations do exist. It's supposed to keep a warm and cozy kitchen, and prevent overcooked meat, burned sauces, etc.
Most people I know do know what they are, but haven't seen them.
So, of course, I had to bring one home, and it's been in our kitchen ever since.

I just wondered if we have something like this for the BBQ world, or if we should.
Best regards,
Jim
