I bought the Camp Chef deep fry pot and it really works well and now with Meathead's recipes for pickles, candy and chicken my cholesterol is going to take another hit! My question is, how do you pour the oil out of the pot (after it has cooled) in a controlled manner without 30% of it running along the outside of the pot and onto everything below? There has to be a method right? Not everyone experiences this mess every time do you? Frustrated!

Attjack - that is good to know. I haven't ever used one. I just Googled "pouring lips" and the silicone stuff came up. What were the issues you had? It looked kind of nifty and was thinking of it as a stocking stuffer. Don't want to give something that won't work.
I googled and found this silicone things too but didn't post because if my experience with the paint pourers. However the paint ones are hard plastic and cheaper. They kinda work, but I found just pouring with skill was easier overall.
I pour quickly after it is cool. Get yourself a funnel with a large opening to help you hit your target. Look for a "canning funnel".
Theres also the method where where you lay a chopstick across the pot and pour slowly so it runs down the chopstick instead of the edge. Haven’t tried that with a heavy CI pot though.
Place your storage container on a large cookie sheet. Then get comfortable with the fact that some is going to spill. Do your best pouring it into the storage container while trying to minimize the spill. Pick up the storage container. Wipe off the outside with paper towel. Pour the spilled remains from the cookie sheet into the storage container.
I use this when pouring my cooled oil out of a turkey frying pot that I use for corn chips. However make sure it’s cooled.
