I just picked up a high end cooler, an Otterbox venture 65, and I was wondering how do you guys store your coolers?
These high end coolers have freezer seals so do you store them with the lid slightly open? Or is storing it in a hot garage fully sealed for long periods of time ok? I don't want to open it a month later worth mold lol
I try to store with the lid cracked, or the drain open (if an option).....I've also forgotten and left them closed for a long while and been fine (assuming dry when stored).

If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Clean and dry. I usually make sure my coolers are fully dried out before closing the lid and putting on the shelf in the garage, and also leave the drain plug open. If you do that mildew should not be an issue.
After putting Salmon, Rock fish, or Dungenous crab in my coolers , I will rinse well and fill with water and a splash of Chlorox for a day. The following day empty, rinse and leave open till dry. Leave the lid cracked after that awaiting the next trip.
clean, dry and open is how I store rv fridge/freezer, never a problem in 26 years
always smells fresh as new
I think clean and dry are the operative words, even with clean/dry and closed you would probably be ok but why risk brewing primordial soup if your clean/dry was less than good?
