Adding Shelves to a Kettle

I added the BBQ Dragon 22" Kettle Shelf and am so happy with it I'm adding one to the opposite side. What you should know:

* They say it folds down - it don't - it folds up but can no longer be on the kettle
* You either have to remove it to cover the kettle, or get a bigger cover [not hard to find] - & it just pulls off
* They tell you to put it directly above a leg - I've found it doesn't matter, really
* it's way stronger and more stable than the manufacturer claims
* you'll have to straighten all three of the hooks with pliers and put them back in
* it's inexpensive - ~ $ 35.00

bBQ Dragon says to fold and store inside the kettle when not in use. I bought one, just because. It won’t fit the 26 and won’t fit my Napoleon as the rim is a bit different. Hmm...maybe I need a 22...

I didn't catch that - store inside. I can't cuz I'm ready for the next cook - stuff inside. I thought they made an XL for the 26? I'd love a 26 but the 22 has all accessories that fit. The red limited-edition I got from Home Depot was only $ 150.00. A bit nicer than the MT, I think. The grates are the only real difference, and easy to buy. I think the limited is the same, higher height.

I put two of these on my kettle. I just leave the whole thing uncovered.

I dont know how I used that kettle before I got these.

He's a devoted 22" user, so I bought an extra fer him!

I do wish they had them for the 26. It does seem that many of the good accessories are for the 22 only.

I have had one on for close to 2 yrs and I LOVE it! Highly recommended. It "folds up" when you take it off store it, it doesn't fold up whole on the kettle. I wish they'd get one out for the 26", I've emailed them twice asking about this and I get no response (they stink at returning emails). Can't believe all this time has gone by and they still don't have one for the 26.

I wish they made one for the Ranch kettle. That sucker holds a lot of food, but you kind of need somewhere to set it all down before loading it up. I just ditched my 22" for a Performer, so no need for this one.

You know you can get heavy duty casters from Harbor Freight and make that really nice shelf cart off-road capable.

It has crossed my mind to do that for the Ranch kettle, actually.
