    Be Good To Your Wood

Somewhat inspired by Jerod Broussard 's new butcher block, I declared it "Be Good To Your Wood" day at the Hamilton abode. Oiled up all of my blocks, recently built counter (on recently built cabinet), and wooden utensils. It took me 14 minutes and 37 seconds so I think I'll call it a day.

Oh man that looks FANTASTIC!! I just finally finished the kitchen this weekend with the exception of the backsplash. I'll do that next weekend. Been rubbing wood for weeks now.

The big one on the left is a 24 x 18 Catskill. It's a beast, but it'll handle the biggest brisket. Maybe not Troutman 's turkey, but pretty much anything else.

Thank you Steve, I've been in construction all of my life but these are the first kitchen cabinets I have built. Good grief that is a lot of work and there is zero margin for error. I understand now why cabinetmakers charge so much, very labor-intensive.

This is a Kohler sink. We really like the depth and the accessories like the colander, bottom racks that separates your dishes from the gunk and food waste, and the little cutting board. Man, there are soooo many choices out there! Click image for larger version

Love it brother!! I loved my old Kohler. I removed it and went with this Ruvati this time. Dang nice. With all the chopping block material I have left over, I am now making a custom sink insert with some of it. Your work looks FANTASTIC man!! Cabinets will test ya and you passed!

Hahaha, definitely something cool about old dudes puttering around their shops. Building our own caskets I suppose.

Lookin' good fellas! I want to get one of those light & dark striped wood butcher block, with juice groove and preferably the slide-out juice pan, to find a permanent home on my counter. Boos doens't appear to have exactly what I'm looking for.

I saw the expensive one reviewed on this site and figured I could make my own, or buy a used one and modify it. Currently none of my boards can contain my juiciest meats.

I have a very sophisticated woodshop packed up in my garage providing a lot of "dead chi". I just can't figure out how to disperse it. Haven't used any of it since 2014 when we moved down here. Kind of tragic in a way. But given the advancement of my hand tremor, I don't think woodworking is in my event horizon anymore.

A buddy gave me a custom cutting board with my business name engraved into it. A very thoughtful gift. He told me to take care of it so I bought some oil in a spray bottle from Amazon, and now I'm taking better care of all my cutting boards. It was a gift that keeps giving.
