When I light the SNS for low n slow I drop two Weber cubes in the corner of a full SNS, place one briquette on top of each and light. Start my controller fan and walk away.
Same deal lighting my pk360 custom basket.
For 325+ and the PBC, I use the cubes to light my chimneys.

A while back I made up a bunch of firestarters for a camping trip and they worked great...buy a bunch of the circular cotton makeup remover pads from the drug store (they're like 2 dollars for a box of a jillion), grab a tub of Vaseline, smear some (you don't need much! Imagine you're putting peanut butter on a cracker) one one of the pads, slap another pad on top to make a little sandwich, and you're done. They take about 10 seconds to make, they're cheap as chips, and burn extremely well. In 15 minutes you can do up several dozen of em, then just put them in a Ziploc bag till you need them.
I don’t understand the averseness of using 1 or 2 sheets of newspaper. The ash I end up with can maybe fill a shot glass, probably less. I’ve stated before I am sometimes cheap (most of the time) so I still use that and mama forbid, a match. Once in awhile I have to use a second match. With that said, about once a month I use a Weber cube. They are pretty neat, although you have to buy them.
Nope. Didn't think you were FireMan. Now having to use a second match? Don't get me started on my how bad matches are rant...
I started using the empty charcoal bags as garbage bags in my cooking space. I fold over the top 4 or 5 inches and the bags sit up straight and are always open at the top. Like a baby birds mouth just waiting for garbage. Plus they survive the outdoors.
Yessir Mudkat , I’ve been using my bags as cookin area catchalls for years, even some of my ash dumps. Although I mostly put ash around bushes & trees since I no longer have a garden.

I’ve tried a couple starters, but always end up going back to newspaper. Even when I travel, be it a vacation house, camping, or the beach...I just use paper in the chimney to get things going.
