I currently have a Vacmaster pro350 bag sealer and it's on the fritz. I am considering the Vacmaster VP215 chamber sealer and was wondering if anyone has one or thoughts on it. The chamber sealers seem a lot more efficient but I would lose the ability to seal bigger cuts of meat. On the plus side liquids and moist foods are a piece of cake.
I'm not set on this model and would like to spend no more than the $600-700 this sells for.
Vacuum sealers would be a great test topic for this site as all of the reviews online are BS. Thanks for any input.
The 215 is a fine piece of equipment. The VP112S is cheaper, and is also fine (but lacks the lubrication for the motor). They have different footprints and heights, so that could be a consideration. Either would be a fine replacement for your current one.
thanks Ed. I think the 215 has more depth from what I can tell.Just hoping I can seal something like a three bone short rib plate but with a 10" sealing bar that looks doubtful. I store lots of stuff in mason jars too so I know this can seal like 5 pints at a time. The quarts you have to lay sideways. I'm guessing to seal racks of ribs and such i would have to roll the rack.
I generally cut the racks in half for the VP112s. Since there are only two of us usually, no big deal. I've done some pretty decent sized rib roasts in it though. Dry-aged in an Umai bag, bone in. Looks to be 3-4 ribs.
I love my VP215, but I would contact ARY and see what options you might have to fix the Pro350. Most of the parts are pretty easy to replace on these units, once you get the cover off.
the customer service at ARY has been great I ordered a solenoid to fix the main bag seal vacuum and when I changed it it still didn't work. They are sending me a new one. Since then the attachment vacuum stopped working too. I am starting to suffer from MCS and am thinking of just getting the chamber sealer (I do vac a lot of liquids) and repairing and gifting my vacmaster pro 350 to someone.
I have a VP215 and the only way you can have it is to pry it out of my cold dead fingers. The largest bags it will take is 10x13. Bags come in a variety of thickness, the 3mil works fine, just wrap anything with a bone in butcher paper before sealing to prevent a puncture. The lowest price I have found is here and it is where I ordered it along with several other items. It is heavy, so we got a cart to move it out of the way when not is use, pictured here. Order the bags in bulk here.
I have the Vac Master Duo 550. It's a chamber and a suction vac in one. I can put 3 to 4lb bags of pulled pork in the chamber or do ribs or salmon fillets in the vacuum sealer method. I love it. https://www.vacuumsealerdigest.com/v...sealer-review/
Keep in mind chamber vac bags are about 1/3 the cost of the vacuum sealer bags/rolls.

I bought the VP112S about 5 months ago. Had trouble with it sealing. Then I noticed that when the lid was lowered, it was just a tad bit offset, and was on the edge of the plastic and not entirely on the rubber gasket. It took me a month to figure that out (not the sharpest tool in the shed...). But since I made that adjustment, it works great.
it is BIG. Bought the forum recommended stainless steel rolling table to go with it. My wife is not crazy about it, that's life. Very happy with it now.
With lid closed is about 14.5". Lid open is at about 24". It is heavy, don't think you'll store it in a cabinet and put it on the counter when needed. It needs a permanent spot or put on a rolling cart.
ComfortablyNumb i think I may have to go with the vps112 as my clearance is 18.5 inches although if I have the 215 pulled forward I’d get more clearance. No way I’ll be able to have this anywhere else and I don’t want to trek to the garage to seal every item. ;(
I just measured, the unit would have to have set 18" from the upper cabinet to open fully. Also bear in mind, you would be putting the bags in 14" above the counter. If you are tall, no worries. If the Mrs. is short......
ComfortablyNumb ok...I just want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly....I have 18.5 inches from counter to microwave so it wouldn’t work well? I would need it 18 inches from the back wall for it to open all the way? I have 23inches depth from back wall to counter. I really like the oil pump on this model. I’m bummed.
The Mrs is taller than me. Fine stock from New Zealand but allergic to the kitchen. Lol
No, you need 18" from the front your lower counter to where your upper cabinet hangs over the lower counter. So measure the depth of your lower counter, then measure the depth of the upper cabinet. Subtract the cabinet depth from the counter depth. If you have at least 18" you'll be able to open the sealer fully. Get me that number and I'll take a pic with the tape.
Actually I think it may work. I could pull it 8 inches away from back wall and that would probably allow it to open 3/4 of the way. I don’t foresee any reason I would need it all the way open(sure I’ll find one once I own one).
ComfortablyNumb. Okay...my lower counter depth is 25â€. My microwave cabinet is 12.5 so say 13†depth to wall. So it’s a 12†inch diff. Lastly, not sure if this is what you need too but the front of the lower counter measures 22†to the front of the microwave ledge
the beast arrived. Dang thing is heavy. I noticed there was a dent upon unpacking on the lower right corner. I called amazon and they offered me a 25% discount which was $150 so I took it. It’s by the fridge where people can only see it they raid my fridge or so the dishes. Don’t have to worry about the latter.
I got it working and it works really well. Will take me time to figure ins n outs but I’m excited.
Looks like a good fit. What did you use to cushion the upper cabinet? I think I forgot to tell you that when it finishes sealing the lid opens and pops up.
ComfortablyNumb. Lol. Yes.... I was aghast when the lad popped open and banged into the cabinet above. I used a strip of the double sided tape they sent with the machine. Attached it to the bottom of the microwave cabinet. You can see it in the photo.
