Bluetooth to wifi app

I found this this morning while looking for something else. It seems that many here use Bluetooth thermometers because wifi isn't availble.

I'm wonderin' if this app could be an easy way to to overcome the short range of Bluetooth? Most here have an old phone laying around, or some type of tablet, so it seems that if you could place an old device near the Bluetooth signal of your thermometer, it could convert the signal to wifi so that you could get better range.

I'm no techie, and I don't have a need, but I am curious if this could be a solution to the short range of Bluetooth. Any techies want to ponder this in public?

I thought it was already done by someone, don’t remember who. Uses his iPad and phone to accomplish the task. The easy solution is buy the Fireboard and have both built in.
