@Danjohnston949 Yes, I sure hope I didn't come off as 'mean'. That wasn't my intent.
An old GF of mine wanted me to buy her a bread machine for her birthday, yikes, it was $500 dollars, I told her, 'honey, you can buy alot of bread for $500 dollars. Like my dad used to say 'Not My $500 Dollars' ... lol
I think that as a very casual home user, I'd probably be getting the $199 version. The Gen3 is for the guy you pay $3 per knife to sharpen yours. Makes him more effective, and probably far better than you or I are at doing it ourselves. Places like restaurants or stores that sell and sharpen knives might be the more likely candidate for the more expensive versions.
I just found it interesting to see it up front and personal, and realized that by helping with the software, had contributed to making this product.
I don't understand on why his machines were not already loaded with the software.every new one i have seen or ran it is there when it is turned on. Or are they being retro fitted
The software that designs the parts (solidworks) and the software that reads the design and generates the programming that cuts the raw aluminum into the parts of those machines (esprit). As far as the finished device, they are completely manual.
Wow that tormek looks pretty amazing. I think one of the worst things that has happened since joining the Pit is that now I see more and more cool gizmos and gadgets that I "need". Ah well, add it to the list of "maybe someday" lol
For the rest of the world that’s called GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). Here in the pit we call it MCS (more cooker syndrome). But we’ve been branching out into more categories😳😋😳
