Congrats on your remodel! Once it's over and the dust settles you'll never look back.

I went through the new kitchen thing a couple of years ago, there was a fair amount of pain involved but the end result was more than worth it. And I'll never figure out how I was able to live with just one oven all those years...

About cabinets: I did the first side of the galley kitchen with HD in-stock cabinets and changed out the slides and hinges for the soft-close versions. The other side of the kitchen I sourced from HD but they were their higher-end cabinets, made of plywood with soft-close slides and hinges included. They were about twice the cost of the off-the-shelf cabinets but a lot cheaper than customs. You pays your money and takes your choice.....

I posted my adventure here: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ing-my-kitchen

And I love the double oven, it's one of those no-regrets things.

I'm already not liking this whole process. I'm relieved the wife and I were able to buy appliances without a lot of discussion. We both agreed on pretty much everything and I didn't get much push back on the double oven. That was the easy part. Now it's flooring, cabinets, counter tops, cabinet hardware, sink, faucets, paint color on the walls, lighting ugghh!
I'm about ready to throw it in the lap of the contractor and call me when it's done. He's done plenty of homes he knows what works and what doesn't. There is just a overwhelming amount of stuff out there to choose from it becomes impossible to pick any one thing.

I'm sure we will get past this and be happy when it's done. We haven't even started yet and I'm ready for it to be done!

Picking stuff out is my worst nightmare, I'm no good at it and don't like it. We bought a spec house and I didn't have to pick anything out!!! Priceless!
        Good Luck, prepare your liver!

I find picking stuff out the easy part. It's getting job done that's killer!

One more step forward. We've accepted a general offer by a contractor so he is locked in. He works with a designer who is coming to the house on Monday. She proposed a line of cabinets that are plywood boxed and hickory doors etc. for a cost that come in slightly under our budget along with our choice of granite or quartz counter tops. Also includes dove tail joints and soft close drawers and doors!
We are going to let her pick out all colors and styles etc. from floor to ceiling. That was the hard part for us. The wife and I are going to get along much better now!

It will be nice for sure. The wife is already worried I might use the hickory cabinets in my stick burners!! She sure has a wild imagination!.......kind of......
