Food dehydrator suggestions? TRIGGER WARNING :)

I can't make this up. My wife needs a dehydrator to dehydrate her placenta from our last baby girl. it then will travel to NZ to be planted with an olive tree on our family farm. A company wants $300 to dehydrate it. I said no way. I can buy a food dehydrator and use it for jerky or other items after the placenta and it should be less than that. LOL Any suggestions? I don't feel I'll use it that often so something reliable and decent but not commercial grade or anything. Thanks.

I use an Excalibur, well known and reliable. If you get a dehydrator, you will start using it. Homemade garlic and onion powder puts store bought to shame. You can also make fruit leathers, as well as dried fruits and jerky. Give me some time and I'll see if I can find a link to what I have.

Here is what I have: https://pleasanthillgrain.com/excali...od-dryer-drier

Here is basically the same thing, just less trays: https://pleasanthillgrain.com/excali...ay-black-timer

BTW, there are two types. One is the round ones, they push the air up from the bottom through all the trays. So the bottom trays dry faster than the top ones. It is recommended to rotate the trays. Then there is they type with the fan in the back that blows the air across all the trays. This is better and there isn't a need to rotate the trays.

We have an Excalibur too. Great piece of equipment!

My wife has a Nesco that works fine. Not as good as the Excalibur's, but probably sufficient for this purpose. It does get warm enough for jerky.

You're right. Some things you just can't make up. Good luck to you the placenta and the tree sir!
