    The Solo Stove Bonfire

This little device as well as Solo Stove's other smaller devices look pretty cool.

    What y'all think?

I like fire no matter what vessel it's in!

Exactly my thought. I still play with matches.

They look nice. Smoke doesn't really bother me, but I could see how they might be useful in more urban areas. I think I will stick with the cast iron sewer base I use. I have seen these online. They look cool. I would think, after a few burns, bye bye nice and shiny exterior. I usually burn knots, and oddly shaped wood in my fire pit. (all the smoking wood that is too much of a PITA to split.) So I don't know that is would really work for me. But I could see some seeing the benefit.

Not that you preburn your wood, but I was thinking it'd be great for that.

I like it! I keep seeing it pop up on my FB for some reason. I think it would make a great chimney starter for my Texas Pit!

Ha Ha! I can see this on my patio. If I had a patio! Too many dang cookers. Need a new patio!

Very cool, I think there is one the burns pellets too. That’s an expensive campfire.

I like the concept, but the price is a deal breaker. I have less than that in a 30" brick firepit with steel insert. I guess it's portable, but pretty cumbersome at 20 lbs and about 20" diameter.

Yessir! Roast a hot dog and you've cooked with a stickburner.

I'd sure want a better barrier between that and the deck! Looks like my Flame Genie, which is $99 from Amazon.

Kinda looks like a salvaged stainless steel clothes dryer drum. Hmmm... there's an idea....

If you like fire and outdoor cooking here is the deal to consider:

I have had one of the original small-sized Solo stoves for several years. It is a lightweight backpacking stove that works well if you want to cook one-pot meals in the backcountry and have a decent wood supply. I have used it at elevations up to about 9000 feet. It is essentially a twig burner. Twigs about 1/4 in diameter and 2" long are the fuel. Once you get the hang of starting and regulating the fire, it does a good job. With the companion pot you can boil 16 ounces of water in about 8 minutes or less (at sea level).

Instead of packing the stove away in the garage between backcountry trips, I set up a small camp stove area on the side of the yard. I split a large supply of scrap white oak that was left over from our flooring remodel into small pieces sized for the stove. I use the stove for making breakfast when I want to make a mess frying bacon and eggs or fish. Hot water for tea, etc. No clean up in the kitchen is nice and you get to be a boy scout in your backyard.

                  Here is breakfast this morning....Brookie
