GrillGrate / Stainless Steel rod grid | Where to place it ?

This is my first post on the Pitmaster Forum,

I bought : "The science of great barbecue and Grilling" and have put a lot of reading.

I have a medium 15 years old Broil King Monarch 30 (15'' x 22'' surface) with an infinity burner (2 knob controls).

I would like a setup for a two zone like shown by MeatHead.

For the searing: should I replace one of the actual grid by one equivalent size GrillGrate or should I put one GrillGrate directly on the Flav-R-Wave to get even more heat?

Should I buy GrillGrate or one stainless rod grid?

    Thank you

Not being an owner of something that would need that treatment, I can't offer advice. Others will be along shortly. In the meantime, Welcome!

NinthWave, Earlier this Summer I bought a 2010 4 Burner Commercil Series Char-Broil from a lady who's Husband had passed on! The Grill had been used Very Little! The first thing I did was order a Replacement Set of Griil Grates for it as I Cleaned it up! The 5 Panel Set recommended by the Young Lady at the GrillGrate Co are an Absolutely Perfect Fit! My Wife, Eunice Really Likes the Grill and GrillGrates! She usually cooks with the Center Two Burners Off and the Outside Burners on Low, or Indirect! Eunice has cooked 3/4 of the Meals on It since We Got It! As a Matter Fact the Hamburger
Pic's below She prepared while I started this! 👍👍👍👍👍 You'll be Happy with the GrillGrates IMHOP!

Howdy from Kansas Territory, Wlecome to th' Pit!
I have no gasser, but if it were me,
I would buy a set to fully cover yer gasser, an' use as many as needed fer yer cook d'jour...
Ya'll find plenty uses fer a full set, if ya' have 'em!

I would agree with Mr. Bones. I replaced my entire surface, and it works great on both the direct and indirect heat sides. I unfortunately ordered them a bit tight which makes it tough to turn over for the flat side.

Thank you all for welcome and replies, but I am still not sure if I should put the GrillGrate at the higher position for a replacement of my actual grids or if I should put them right on the flavorizer V.

Although my grill can reach 700+ °F lid closed, I find it difficult to keep my steak blue/rare at the searing step. I have a digital thermometer and at 109-110 °F, I move the steak apart and put the burners on MACH 10 lid closed.

Are the burners too weak? Does my actual grid retain too low heat (enameled) or do I move the steak too slow from place to place? I can not get a great sear in 3 minutes. After 5-6 minutes of fliping/moving, I get a nice bark but the steak is medium.

              Any help?

I would either put thr grill grates on top on the stainless, or as a replacement for stainless, not on the flavour bars.

I agree with jgreen . I have replaced my grill surfaces with the grill grates. You don't want to put them on the flavorizer bars. Any liquid that drops down can still be vaporized if it has not been already by the Grill Grates.
