    Thermoworks ThermaQ error?

So both probes were working fine, but suddenly I go out to check and both displays show "Err". I can set temp ranges, but it's like both probes are disconnected. I doubt both probes died at the exact same time.

    Tried:
    1. New batteries.
    2. Restarting.
    3. Re-seat the probes in the ThermaQ.

Anyone ever seen this? Any ideas? My current idea is maybe the unit overheated in the back yard so I brought it inside.

Doing a pork shoulder, so it's not the end of the world, but it sure would be nice to be able to check temps without lifting the lid.

I have the predecessor to the ThermaQ. It would have problems if just set outside in the direct sunshine on a hot day as it would overheat and the screen would turn entirely black.

If everything seems back to normal once you brought it inside I would just try shading it somehow if this is happening while left in the sunshine.

Thermoworks has great customer service - give 'em a call tomorrow or maybe the 5th and I'm sure they will straighten things out.

It seems that it is an overheating issue. After ~1hr inside, I plugged it back in and it works fine. I moved the main unit into a shady spot (on the ground under the grill) and it has worked fine since.

After looking at the operating temps for the unit (4 - 122 degrees Fahrenheit), I think it got too warm in the ~92 degree day + sun.

        I need a mini-gazebo for my ThermaQ.
