The SnS is like Bay leaf in a stew. You try it once and You'll know when it's missing.
This doesn't really give you a direct answer but here's what happened last Saturday.
Got my 26 kettle home, did an initial burn then decided to cook on it with banking the coals styles.
But I felt like I was standing outside naked. So I went and grabbed my SnS from the 22, fished the burning coals into the SnS set in the 26. It was brutal fishing those hot coals but no way I was going to cook without the SnS.

To put it delicately, it's the BBQ "je ne sais quoi"
