Will magnets on the back of pit controllers hurt the unit?

I recently picked up a DigiQ DX2 and a Fireboard. (MCS and CL just kill me.)

I would like to place a few small magnets on the back of the controllers. Would this negatively effect any of the internal electronics?

    Thanks!

Not sure the amount it takes to degauss something.

Jerod Broussard The ones I was looking at were 4100 Gauss. That might be a bit too much. I don't know.

Not sure about those two units but a couple Thermoworks units I have came with magnets on them.

That would work. But i like the idea of being able to put them any where.

Spinaker you do know if you buy a cooker made out of wood or asbestos you're out of luck

Not sure about the DigiQ, but the head of the Compact Flash memory association once said "A magnet powerful enough to disturb the electrons in flash would be powerful enough to suck the iron out of your blood cells." My Apple Watch has a wireless charger that is electromagnetic, my Mac has a magnetic power cord, and the iPad has a bunch of magnets built into it, etc. I've never heard of any magnet problems with computers that don't have floppy/hard drives.

Cool man! Thanks. I figured it was fine but I wanted to check with the good folks. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

I don't know if the mounting bracket is the same width as the cyberq, but my bracket fits perfectly in a cell phone holder with a suction cup. Nothing on the kamado is magnetic and my table top is aluminum, works great can set it at any angle and swivel it, i just leave it mounted on the table. You could always rip down a piece of wood to fit tbe holder and mount t the bracket to it

I hear ya. The KEG is steel on the outside. So I was going to stick it to the dome, right by the dial thermo., I did a surface temp check on the outside of the dome when the Kamado was at 275 F. The dome was still only 75 F on the outside. So I think I will be okay during low and slow cooks.

Unlikely to be a problem. Ask BBQGuru and the Fireboard people for a definitive answer regarding their warranty.

magnets and electronics are mostly a problem with an alternating magnetic field (which induces an electric current) or a strong or an alternating electric current (which induces a magnet field). since you are attaching them to the back and never moving them i would think you should be fine, especially since devices these days run on such low power.
