    Charcoal Basket for PK

Im looking for ideas for a charcoal basket to fit into my PK. They make one, but its a bit pricy IMO. Seems like I should be able to use a stainless veggie basket, right? Just as long as it doesn't have any type of coating on it to burn off. Curious for opinions from the pit.....

I've been using a stainless veggie basket and it works great. Mine has a detachable handle and takes up a little over a third of the charcoal grate space. I'll try to grab a pic later today. I got it either at Lowes or Home Depot.

Thanks-was what I was expecting, just didn't want to rush into a mistake. I'm actually on my way to Home Depot now (or, as I call it, my "happy place"). I'm gonna pick one up

You could also use these. With two baskets you have more options for placement. (the link is the AR link)

          I purchased this... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ag=amazi0a8-20

It's $11.00 and I just cut off the rubber stabilizer thingies off the bottom. I also used a full weber chimney basket of coals to burn off any residue of stuff and it works great for a quarter of the cost of PK's brand charcoal basket.

Would one of the Weber charcoal baskets work? I know those a pretty cheap and they might work pretty well.

Mr. Bones I did slice off the foam padamathingers and used a full Weber charcoal chimney of charcoal to burn off any residue of crud on the coating of the basket and it works great! Charcoal clean up is a breeze now after a cook. I just pick up the basket w/ heat gloves of course and dump the coals into my ash can and only a smidg'n of ash is at the bottom of my PK. Definitely glad I made the purchase.
