    Let there be light!

My Weber is on our deck and situated so that the light comes from behind my right shoulder when I'm working at it at night. There's not quite enough room to stand on the other side, so I have to move around a bit to see what I'm doing because the spotlight casts a shadow on the grill. I've been searching for a small magnetic light to place near the grill, and finally found one. I put together some steel frame parts not used when we set up the bed a number of years ago, (too good to throw out), and I thought it would work well to hold a light - and it does.
I wouldn't mind a bit more light, but for $7, I'm happy. The light is LED and rechargeable with a usb connection.

Pic 1 is the spotlight shining on the grill
Pic 2 is what I normally see when I'm where I need to be.
Pic 3 shows the grill with the light in place. It's not quite as bright as it looks in the photo, but it will work.
Pic 4 is the light on the stand.

The link is the AR link in case anyone wants one.

It's interesting how we get creative to make our cooks easier. I keep trying different things to help with lighting and I'm still not satisfied. I think I might need some stadium lighting to be really happy but that might piss off my neighbors.

Steve B - It's not just getting light, but the right amount of light. That includes not too much light. I don't want to have to wear sunglasses to cook at night either.

That looks very nice. I also am looking for best angle to lighting at night. Thanks for sharing.

I asked the lighting question about a month back https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...tdoor-lighting and received great feedback. I went with the CAT rechargeable light at the recommendation of SMOG MAN. I could not be happier. COSTCO was carrying them online at the time and had them this Holiday season in my local store for $30. It has a built in stand that you can use on a surface and I use the stand to hand it sometimes. Steve B - two of these things would light a stadium - a small stadium, but what the heck.

tbob4 - I remember that thread. I think that might have sparked my continued quest for the "right" light.

Tac Light Lantern is smaller, brighter and more energy efficient than regular LEDs! Order yours today!

Thanx PJBowmaster - That's a nice looking light, but I'm looking for a more directional light.

When I had my big Brinkmann grill, I used a cheap clip-on LED desk lamp mounted on one of the side shelves. No longer have that grill or I would post a pic.

That's some nice light!! I have the same problem. We expanded our deck considerably this past fall but still only have the one exterior light....so I've been using one of those handle-mount grill lights, and depending which grill I'm using I attach it to the neighboring grill's handle. It does the job but NOTHING like the brilliance of your pictures.

Huskee - careful please. That light is not quite as bright as it looks, but for $7, I'm happy. It does at least serve as proof of concept for the stand.

A simple cheap solution is a headlight, which is like a coal miners headlamp. It can be picked up at Home Depot type stores.

I hadn't even thought of that, and I own four...they're very handy on the boat. I'll try that this weekend.

I do have one of those, but it's easier to use the light I have, and since it's rechargeable, there is no battery cost.
