    Meat Tumbler repair?

I bought a meat tumbler in June and after one use it doesn't work.. (booo) I didn't find out that the one use was all I was going to get until recent. I used it and put it away as if it were newly packaged. Pull it out for TG to hopefully marinate some steaks and wouldn't turn on to save my life..
Went to the website where I purchased from after sending a few non-replied emails and saw that the tumbler was warrantied for only 90 days.
$60 gone down the drain, so finally giving it one more try to find out.... Where/who would you recommend that could fix electronics for things like this that are out of warranty?
Surely I can't be the first in history with this issue but I can't think where do you take things like this to get fixed..

Thanks for your help in advance...

TV repair shop? Vacuum cleaner repair shop? Some Thrift store Handyman?

Went to 2 of those options man and neither would touch it (tv and vaccum) ... Thrift store handyman? Everything is so advanced and people doing work with their hands seems of tales or yesterday...

I own a auto repair shop and that's the sort of things I love to fix instead of replace, I should have said earlier. Try your local mechanic/Auto technition, Sometimes we work for beer and/or cookies. Wonder if your mechanic likes BBQ?

SMOG MAN really, auto repair? Then I must ask my guy and perhaps tempt with some BBQ...

Unfortunately gone are the days where that shop off the main street in town had this guy who fixed TVs, VCRs and such. We now live in a disposable society.

EXAAAAACTLY.... My brother says soon enough the everyday laborer will be able to charge $300 an hour because no one works with their hands anymore..

My advice would be an independent tv repair shop. Years ago I knew someone who had a shop, and he would look at just about anything electrical.

When you say it doesn't work, what do you mean? Nothing happens when you turn it on? It turns on but doesn't spin?

Since it's out of warranty anyway, you might try taking the cover off to see if anything sticks out as not right - like a loose wire or a gear out of alignment.

Did it come with a manual of some sort? Should have some info in that.

Came with a manual that has no troubleshooting info except to send back within a year if it doesn't work but what I've learned or guesstimate is the Amazen pellet guys bought the company or the rest of these from the company and are reselling.. The manufacturing date is 2003

Hence the 90 day warranty on them.. It'd be nice if there was some response from them (tried emailing and FB and FB shows the message was read) but oh well the show must go on.

its called Planned obsolescence, Items are built to last so long and then fail, so you have to go buy another one adding to the companies bottom line. Items aren't really made to be fixed anymore. Like HawkerXP wrote We now live in a disposable society. Buying a part instead of a whole new item doesn't add enough to a business bottom line so they discourage it. That being said see if you have a locale "Makers" club near by, Seems its most like bad wiring may just need to be re soldered stuff those maker guys can diagnose and fix in their sleep!

If you have trouble finding a maker club, find a steampunk group. There's a lot of overlap.

So I admit I've never heard of a meat tumbler? Was wondering what it was for? Then you said to marinate the meat. Is that what its for or do you use it for other things? (if it worked) Gonna go look it up on youtube. (Great 1st it was Convection/steam oven and now this! I'm already out of cabinet space!!)

GadjetGriller I bought it from the Amaze-n pellet guys. It worked well the one time it did. I had hoped to have some kind of response from them but I guess I am more important in my head than I actually am.. hahaha..
If you're out of cabinet space don't bother.. If you're a gadget junkie (as in your name) then the ones I've seen that had great reviews were in the 2-300 range.

Stupid story but it may apply - I bought a meat slicer that worked for 1 year and just stopped working. I tried calling the company - no response. I ended up tossing it in the trash and bought another - identical. I opened the box and there was a spare fuse. Fuse? Son of a gun. I blew a fuse and had no idea. The fuse insert was in a hidden spot.

hahaha.. that actually is a great story! At least you got a 1 year use vs my 1 time.. Sadly I keep all boxes for my gadgets and pack them back neatly so I have all manuals etc.. Nothing of the sort in the box, hence the 90 day warranty on the site that I realized after going back to contact them..

This may be wrong but so is not standing behind a defective product, buy another then return that defective one for a refund.

You know.. I thought about it... However, I figure I just won't support the company overall.. I have bought a few products of theirs and poor customer service word travels.. Karma..

My first thought is tbob4 may have nailed it. Open it up and see if there's a fuse blown. Also look for blackened circuits or evidence of smoke. Oh, be sure it's unplugged first.

Thank you AZRedneck . That was the plan today to finally open it.. You sure I should unplug? Hahahaha

If you wear insulated gloves, rubber boots, eye and ear protection, a reflective vest, and a non conductive hard hat you will be fine... as long as you unplug it first.

If all else fails with your inspection do check the on/off switch as they frequently fail and are quite sensitive to water infiltration.

I've taken the panel off and it looks normal (says the untrained electirician) no fuses to be seen however.. guess the next move is a makers club..

I'd pull the connectors loose one at a time and reseat them. That might fix it.
