    A little project

I got around to building my grill centre this weekend. It's only for 2 years, hence kiln dried lumber. Click image for larger version

I'm going to use some 5/4 cedar decking to make the work top. The burner was scavenged from my old Chargriller Duo.

Chiefsilverback it looks good.. I am dreaming of building a covered grill station and work station before the year is over.

You can see it'a a pretty straight forward design. This place is only a rental hence I haven't gone to crazy worth the features, and if i were building for the long term I'd consider using cedar.

      Looks dang good, Chiefsilverback!!

Please post more pics, as the build progresses.

I'm looking at doing the same, maybe both out front, and back patio, so I'll enjoy the inspiration.

      Best regards!

Here it was in a slightly earlier stage of construction before I framed the work surface. I used 2x4 lumber, 8' at the front, 7' at the back and it's completely free standing. The roof is 8' wide and 6' deep which provides a nice bit of coverage for cooking through the New Hampshire winter. The roof is 1/2" OSB, covered with 3.5mil plastic that's both glued down and then batoned with some 2x1 PT strips.

The work surface is 30" deep and 55" wide, so a nice space for my 'side' burner, Q1000 and anything else I might need. I need to install some LED work lights and then the finishing touch might be a nice pair of outdoor speakers... Click image for larger version

That's definitely got some form to go with its function!

Looks like some more good tricks to incorporate into my own, Thanks LA Pork Butt!

Something like either one of these could be knocked together very quickly!

The fun bit of this is trying to work out what combination of pipes/splitters I need to hook up the Q1000 and that burner! The burner has an SAE flare fitting and needs a regulator. The Q works with 1lb tank so doesn't need a regulator. Based on that my shopping list should be:

                Bulk tank Y split
Bulk tank to 1lb thread for Q
Bulk tank w. regulator to SAE flare for burner

Now I just need to work out the correct lengths!

Pretty much done. Cedar work surface and shelf in place, and I removed the lower cross bar on the left hand side at the front to make a nice space for two 20lbs tanks and two kaddies. I also put up my LED cafe lights...

Tonight's cook is 4 nice and thick rib eyes and a piece of tenderloin (for mother), with asparagus grilled on the Q...

The lights run off an extension cord that runs to the garage and I've plugged it into an iHome SmartPlug. I think it will be many months before the novelty of saying "Hey Siri, turn the deck lights on." gets boring!
