Does anyone have a recommendation on a low-end sausage stuffer? I'd love to buy one made in USA like a TSM but I can't justify the cost as I am not going to be making lots of sausage all the time. Probably smaller batches so a 5 pounder should do. Just something reliable with gears that won't fail?
Thanks!
Check out the LEM on Amazon. It's been on my wish list for years, but just don't have the room for it ( along with 500 other kitchen thingys ). Love my LEM 575 grinder!
I'm with Medusa on this. I have a small LEM stuffer( 5 pound capacity) and am very pleased with it. Excellent bang for the buck. The seemingly small capacity has not slowed me down a bit. My batch sizes typically run 10-30 pounds, and stuffing all that sausage is a breeze, even when you have to refill the stuffer in the middle of a string of casing.
The LEM also makes(with a bit of modifying) an excellent cheese press.
It is easy to use and to clean, but make sure you have a few c-clamps to keep it stable on your work surface.
Equipment:
'88 Vintage Fire Magic gasser with over 4000 cooks to its credit
Large Big Green Egg
18 Inch Weber Kettle (Rescued from neighbor's trash)
Rotisserie for 18 inch kettle
Dyna Glo propane smoker
Pit Barrel Cooker
Smokey Joe with mini WSM mod
Garcima paella burner
Anova Sous Vide
Slaiya Sous Vide (gift)
LEM grinder, sausage stuffer and meat slicer (all gifts)
I also have the LEM 5 pound stuffer. If you check LEM's "Refurbished items" page, you can probably save a couple of bucks. I've have their stuffer, #8 grinder, and meat slicer, all purchased as "refurbished", and no problems for 5± years. I do recommend getting the metal stuffing tubes to replace the plastic ones that come with the stuffer. Much easier to use, especially with natural sheep casings.

Jerod if you don't mind, may I ask do you know which model/how many pound capacity you have? I kinda want the 5 pounder but the other ones are made in USA and way out of my price range.
Thanks!

We have a kitchenaid mixer so got the grinder attachment. Sausage stuffer came with. I read somewhere about using a cookie press or a modified caulk gun. Or google Jerky Gun. Unless you're going into full commercial production then disregard what I said.
