I am thinking about getting Grill Grates for my Weber Genesis which I also use as a smoker. My question is will this make my low smoking temp 225-250 harder to hold?
Please let me know if you have had experience with this.

In no way will it make it harder. It willactually make it better. Your adding more thermal mass to the cooking chamber. Plus the grill grates are designed to distribute heat evenly. I would say its an up grade on many fronts. I completely replaced my stock grates with GGs long ago. Best thing I ever did for the gasser.
Funny thing. I have a weber gen also with grill grates. I just light the front or back burner and it holds. But on low for slow cook. For searing warp 10 on all 3 burners. Sunday kims parents and us were outside and wanted to make Bly but no one wanted to fry em up inside. So I just flipped them puppy's over and her mom was saying how the bacon grease was gonna catch it on fire. Not once did the flame come in contact with the lb of bacon. Her dad was mulling around bout getting some till he saw that. Later in the day I caught him cooking hamburgers and sausages. Now he's a believer
I got my five pack of GG's yesterday and promptly threw on a ribeye to test them out. Trouble is it was also my first cook on my new Broil King Signet grill and I haven't quite figured out where I need to have the knobs set for proper temperature. But the GG's did a great job keeping flare-ups away and the steak was very juicy and a perfect pink all the way through. I think these would work great for a slow cook in an indirect fashion though.

Just made the best and juiciest burgers yesterday on the Kettle with brand new GG's. Here's the recipe and method ...
Heck, even if you can't cook you can grill. Here are our how-to guides of must-know info that'll set you up for grilling success.
Also, a thick steak cooked indirect and finished with Reverse Sear is "to die for"
Have fun!

I made three more ribeyes Saturday night (same method) and they were great. I'll fiddle with indirect cooking next time I use the grill. So far though, the Broil King grill with the Grill Grates is a great combination.
The best thing I ever did to my gasser was to replace the standard grille with GG. Did it a few weeks ago, just in time for a big party. Grilled 14 burgers, 20 brats, 20 hot dogs and 10 link sausages. And this was with one side flipped over to grill onions. The spatula that comes with it made it even more fun!
I love grill grates for just about everything but I wouldn't use them to smoking something fatty like a brisket or a pork butt. Save your other normal grates for that and use a drop pan below to catch drippings.
