    New scale from Thermoworks

Looks promising. I really like the wireless removable readout. They are taking pre-orders now.

I saw that. Then said, crap. I have no money right now.

Wait 4 or 5 months and it will come down in price. I've learned with multiple expensive items from Thermoworks that if I had just been patient I would have saved significantly. Don't ask me how much I paid for my RFX or my no-contact forehead thermometer, versus what they cost now. LOL

OC Sandy I ended up getting the Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale awhile back. We had never had a scale, and in an attempt to improve my cooking, I went with it. It only does up to 11 lbs, so it's not a perfect scale for some folks, but it was $110 cheaper than the Thermoworks! When it dies or tells me lies, I'll upgrade.

I am bummed that it only goes up to 11 lbs. I was hoping to see 22 so I could use it for briskets, like my cheap Amazon one. Oh well, maybe they will come out with another in a year or two that will.

I was also disappointed by the 11lb max limit. But the pull out wireless display is way cool!

Probably will, Thermoworks usually keeps making their products better.

Scale looks interesting, and the quality/accuracy should be outstanding. But there's a serious flaw in their advertising. Chocolate chips should never, make that NEVER, be measured by weight, only by heart (as in as much as you desire, not what some recipe dictates).

I like your reasoning. Also agree on the quality aspect. Thermoworks is great stuff!

I always use a measuring cup to measure my chips for cookies. Just hold the cup over the bowl, pour in the chips, and let them overflow the cup and spill into the bowl until I feel joy.

    Bummer about the 11# limit.

OXO’s larger scale also maxes out at 11lb, FWIW. However, OXO’s is only $65.

I have that OXO one and love it. It’s not a wireless display but it does pull out with a wire.

Looks great, as expected from Thermoworks.

Love the pull out wireless thermometer. I definitely need more than 11 pounds. Mine currently goes to 66 pounds. Like above I would settle for 22 or better

I'm that way about both Thermoworks AND Fireboard. <facepalm>

My old Oxo does fine with its wired, pull-out display. I don’t need another 11lb. scale. At least as important, my wife knows I don’t need another 11lb. scale. If it went to at least 22lb., I could make an argument to her and to myself. I guess I’ll have to wait for version 2.

Same.....I would buy this sight unseen. It's Thermoworks.

I love the idea! But then saw the price and said never mind! One day they will run a good sale, but even then it’s a real lot expensive 11lb scale…

Much too expensive for what it is. Comparable to others at a quarter the cost. While the removeable display is unique, it's another wireless connection to deal with. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

            #13
Seems like wireless probes they are way late to the game here to expect people to pay those prices. I love my thermoworks gear and always keep a couple new Thermo-Pops around for gifts to up and coming pit masters I encounter (I usually give them the cardboard version of the PitMaster temp chart magnet too, but I ran out and don’t remember who was sending them to me).

Anyway, have a couple cheap digital scales that seem to work fine, so I can hopefully pass on this MTS propaganda 😂😂😂

The only thing that gives me pause is the "Measure to the tenth of a gram and the thousandth of an ounce with ±0.7 g accuracy". That means they're only guaranteeing that something that actually weighs 2 grams might measure in between 1.3 and 2.7g. Not nearly accurate enough to weigh my Prague powder reliably.

Agreed jtw at the suggestions from here years ago, I have a MyWeighTriton T2 for Prague powder and yeast.

Hopefully they make one that will deal with higher weights.
