I just got the Unicorn Magnum. Amazing output. I recently concluded that I was under seasoning with pepper, due to low mill output. Started using store bought ground pepper, liked the results, but wanted fresh.
Uncle Bob, thanks for the recommendation. If it is good enough for both you and Kenji, I will probably get by!
I have the Pepper Cannon and I love it although I wish I knew about the Unicorn back then - much cheaper in price. The Pepper Cannon is made from billet aluminum.
I bought the Pepper Cannon during his Kickstarter campaign so it was 25-30% off retail. Still very expensive and I almost passed until I watched several Youtube videos of chefs praising it - Mannkitchen sent free ones to chefs and popular youtube cooks. Even though it was pricey I'm glad I bought it. I keep fresh Tellicherry peppercorns on hand to replenish it.
I have used it to season a 13 lb packer brisket and several pork butts and it didn't take long - really nice output volume and you can adjust the pepper particle size.
I bought a Pepper Cannon early on too. Glad I did. However I slowly introduced it into our household for my wife’s benefit. She is very frugal. When she first saw it I told her it was a redesigned slim version of an Amazon Echo that was on sale. After a shrug she accepted it sitting on a kitchen counter. 🙂
