    Historic Can Opener Review!

In what will probably go down in Amazing Ribs history as the most significant and groundbreaking post ever šŸ™„ I wanted to share this can opener review with The Pit…. Back in May I bought this rechargeable hand held can opener off Amazon. I’ve had a few other types of can openers over the years, an under cabinet mount type and the usual ones that sit on the counter. But…..this one is my favorite by far. You just set it on the lid and push a button. You don’t even have to be that accurate with where you place it on the lid, it just kind of falls in place by itself. No more standing around my countertop model with my hands on the can to make sure it doesn’t fall on the counter when it’s done. It has an auto shutoff when done, as well as a strong magnet to help remove the lid, if needed. It’s worked perfectly for me with any size can, from the small tomato paste cans to the larger ones. No more sharp edges from the lid either, it cuts the side of the can.

I’ve used it about 10-12 times now since May and it’s still at a 90% charge. There’s an LED readout which shows you the charge level. This thing is sturdy and seems well built. It also comes with a wall mount bracket if you want to hang it on a wall. I’ve got mine on the wall inside my pantry, one less thing to put in my junk/utensils drawer. It’s actually kind of fun to use. [yeah, I need to get a life] Anyway, if you’re in the market for a can opener I can definitely recommend this one. I haven’t touched my counter top opener once since buying it. The brand is Canslab.

      Thanks, I’ll fix it.
Edit: should be fixed now, let me know.

Does it cut through the top, or separate the seam? The ones that separate the seam don’t leave sharp edges, and don’t risk contaminating the contents with dirt from the top.

It cuts it just below the lip/seam I guess. There’s NO sharp edges at all and you don’t get the little bits of shredded paper like you do from a regular can opener. No risk of any contaminates getting in the can.

Good deal Duane! I think you’ll really like it. It’s pretty hefty for its size. Just by holding it you can tell it’s well built.

I like that it can be stored on the wall, off the countertop. But in not sure I like it $50 worth of off the countertop.

We have a hand cranked can opener. I'd post a picture, but I don't know where it is, hasn't been used in years.

I didn’t even know this until I watched the video in the Amazon link, but it has a retractable lid lifter to pry the lid off…. Being a man, I didn’t read the instructions when I bought it……

I like it. Thanks for sharing. If it were the same color as a pumpkin it would be a slam dunk!
