    New HGH Pitmaster Gloves

I've been using very thick, clunky silicone-based heat resistant gloves for a few years now and they worked fine, even if the dexterity left something to be desired. A few weeks ago my other favorite BBQ site, Hey Grill Hey, started selling their own custom-designed gloves for a really reasonable price.

The ultimate tool for BBQ heroes everywhere, these Pitmaster Gloves combine washability, heat resistance (up to 500 degrees F), and unmatched dexterity. Please refer to the sizing chart for a guide to find the best fitting glove for you! These gloves were sized to be snug yet flexible. If you prefer a slightly looser fi

I used their sizing guide and bought a pair of large gloves even though I wear an XL in nitrile gloves. They're a little tight to pull on and off, but they fit my hand perfectly--like a second skin. I've used them half a dozen times so far, and absolutely love them. They're waterproof, flexible, and they stand up to high heat (rated for 500F). The pic shows me holding my hand about 12 inches away from a ripping hot chimney. I used them to shred about 30 lbs of pork a couple of weeks ago, and it was easier than using bear paws. They're easy to clean, too. You just put them on and wash your hands. I think Susie and Todd really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Note: I get no kickbacks from this product. I just really like it and the people who sell it.

I ordered a pair on their pre-order and have used them a few times now. I really like them too. I like that they aren't "clunky", to use your word. They fit well. I wear a Medium in nitrile gloves for work and I ordered a Medium from HGH. Good fit. Their sizing guide is accurate, but if someone wants a loose fitting glove they should probably go up a size.

*I also do not get any sort of kickback from HGH. I just like the product.

I could probably use some like that. Going to check them out.

I could probably use those as well. It would Definitely save money long term over using nitrile disposable gloves over cotton.

I had some rubberized gloves, but they were thick and cumbersome. Hopefully, these will be a good replacement for the idea of cotton gloves covered with nitrile gloves that I went to for hot food handling.

How do they do vs nitrile over cotton glove liners?

I've never used nitrile over cotton, so I can't say.

These have a fabric liner, and they're rated for 500F. I've used them to remove a Dutch oven from a 350F oven and a roasting pan from a 425F oven and I didn't feel a thing.

I have never had a pair of high temp gloves that allowed me to hold something really hot very long. Will these allow that?

I guess it depends on what you consider "really hot". I used them to move pork butts around on my kettle at 250F ambient temp, and I've used them to carry a finished pork loin (cooked at 375F ambient temp) from my deck to my kitchen. I've also used them when maneuvering lit coals with a charcoal rake and tongs.

I wouldn't suggest trying to move coals directly with them, though.

RonB I just took this pic. I held my hand between the steak and the coals for about 30 seconds before I felt warmth.

I ordered and received a pair of XL but had to return them. They have a knit type of fabric for the wrist and it was too tight for me to get my hands through. If you are looking for gloves that slip on/off easily without having to use the other hand to pull, these are not going to work. The palm and fingers parts were good and had 'grip' to them.

Interesting. I definitely hate tight gloves, and I find every pair of work gloves and automotive gloves sold in stores are always too tight, even the "XL" ones. And I don't even have big hands. Might try. Thanks for sharing. I too think shredding pulled pork by hand is the way to go, beats any claws or forks by far, and less messy than the dough hook in a stand mixer.

Part of the fun of a hobby is buying new stuff for it. The problem arises when you have several expensive hobbies to buy new stuff for.
