Is there anyone out there using a Cyber-Q with a Stumps smoker that can advise the best place to attach the pit probe from the Cyber-Q. Is it supposed to attach to the grate? Maybe to the back of the thermometer sticking through the door or some other location?
I am not sure where to attach the alligator clip on the end of the probe.
Otolith - I don't have your cooker, but I do have a CyberQ. I have always used the main cooking grate as my point of attachment for one probe, the thickest part of the cook gets the other probe. Grate temp is seems to be closest to what I find works best for my cooks. Just clip it to the grate and you should be fine.
I agree with CeramicChef attach it to the cooking grate. I dont have a CyberQ I do have a IQ110 it has the same type of Clip though. You want the unit to keep the temp at the food level. Higher up (where usually the Door Thermometer is attached) is going to be hotter than where the food is (since heat rises) so the unit would keep the food area cooler than it was telling you. What I just wrote makes sense to me but I may be the only one, hope you can decipher my babblings lol
