I've had my MAK 2 Star Stainless Steel Pellet Grill since 2020 and have always struggled to get the smoke stains cleaned off the outer hood. After trying several cleaners I've settled on this Goo Gone Cleaner as something that actually works "far better" than anything else I've tried. IMO if you have smoke stains on your cookers...give this a try. It should be good on grates to.

Thanks for the heads up. I really need to clean the stainless grates on my BGE. I can also try this on the inside of the KBQ as well.

Spinaker is there any reason I shouldn’t put my KJ grates in my lye vat to clean them. It works great on CI.

Nope, that can damage the stainless steel. You are better off using a caustic, like HD Oven Cleaner Oak Smoke

did you try SD20 (doesn't stain the black powder coating) or Mr Muscle (cleans stainless amazing but does stain the black parts)... if you did and this is better I'm down to try it

I did try SD20 and IMO this Goo Gone is better. It was $6.99 at my local hardware store.

We like the bar keeper for lots of things. Haven't tried it on SS.

That's good stuff to polish up your Weber kettles' shine. In fact Weber recommended it to me. Goo Gone is better for dissolving black grease buildup methinks.

I've used that too with great success. Goo Gone for the win!

Thanks for the recommendation! My wife's father was always a big believer in all things Goo Gone.

Forgive my ignorance, but does anyone know the difference between this Oven and Grill cleaner and the Goo Gone Grill and Grate cleaner?

Their site says the oven one is a foam and the grill and grate is a gel and stronger.
