Rest EZ BBQ blanket from Drip EZ

This looks pretty damn interesting. Honestly, I haven’t had any trouble with foil/towels/cooler; and for a really long hold, I’ve lined the inside of my cooler with those insulated bags that come from SRF, Creekstone, etc., then foil/towels. But this looks like an elegant solution. And there’s no reason it couldn’t go into a cooler, as long as it fits.

It shows “Out of stock” on the website, but Amazon’s Google result says,

But delivery is for the first week of February, so,?

Also, like most vendors, Drip EZ offers 10% off the first order if you surrender your email and cell #; but the Amazon price is 14% off!

I agree. It would be great to see a review here.

I get my holding towels at The Dollar Store, or Ocean State Job Lot, for a buck or two. In this case it’s not that it’s cost effective, it’s that it looks like an elegant alternative.

I would never have considered the BBQ Tubs, but my Secret Santa included them in my gift, and now I get it; I’d been using those heavy duty compressed paper throw-aways, but the tubs beat them hands down as a better solution. If the same minds went toward these, it looks promising.

Harbor Freight sells them very cheap too, often on sale.

The Tubs are actually something I have looked at, seeing The Flat Top King use those in a number of his videos. To hold meat but also as the container for leftovers, thought they looked pretty good and liked they were collapsible.

      THanks for sharing the link!

The tubs are really useful. I haven’t used them for bbq yet, actually, but I used the medium one for the holiday prime rib, and I used the small one to tear up a rotisserie chicken. They collapse to a cutting board, and you can raise the sides an inch, or several inches, as you need.

Regarding the blanket, I did some deep poking for reviews, beyond the Drip EZ site and Amazon where there is a purchase and recency bias. Folks at BBQ Guys say it’s a pain in the butt to clean, that it leaks, and better in theory than in actual use.

I have one of these but use it primarily if traveling to a different location with a brisket.

To rest, I usually wrap my brisket in butcher paper after the stall. When it is done, I let it rest in the butcher paper for about half an hour. Then wrap (still in the paper) in foil, then a couple of towels, then into the cooler.

To travel, I put the foil wrapped brisket in the Drip EZ blanket. Keeping it foil wrapped minimizes cleanup of the blanket.

It was a gift and it works. Would not buy one unless you travel a lot with the food after your cook.

I bought both the tubs and the blankets in advance of a big cook I'm doing next month (block party). I've been using towels and a cooler with butcher paper, but these looked interesting, I'll let you know once I try them out. Planning on about a dozen racks of baby backs in my Stump's Baby. Chicken goes in my newly-acquired M1-S.

I have one but I don’t use it much. The clean up is a pain to me. It is much easier to use foil and towels in a cooler. Towels just go in the washer by themselves. I love the prep tubs though. I use those all the time.

Mosca I don’t even know where it is right now. I got it when I got the tubs a few years ago and used it twice. Even though I had the product wrapped in foil in the bag, I had to turn it inside out to wash it then find a place to let it dry. Great idea but too much trouble for me, I am lazy.

The cleanup goes into the total cost of the job, though, both in time and effort. If it makes one part easier at the cost of making the other part harder, then it’s not worth it.

@Mosca Here's an end cap at one of our stores. I've been using the tubs for years and like them. I took the blanket home some time ago, but have never used it, until I saw your post. I tried it today with a tri-tip I did. I finished the cook at 3:30 and double wrapped it in foil and put into the blanket.

I had to pick up my dog at the vets, after some minor surgery she had. So I didn't get home until 6:45. After taking the TT out of the blanket and unwrapping it, I was surprised that it was still warm and plenty of juice in the foil. I think as long as you are careful with the wrap and handling of the whole unit any mess inside could be kept to a minimum, and there wouldn't be any cleanup issues.

The first thing I held in mine was a brisket. I thought I foiled it pretty good but it got messy.

I'd be more interested in the prep tubs than the blankets but... I dunno. $45 each is pretty steep for a tub. I've got a couple of larger fixed ones I use ALL. THE. TIME. So I do find them handy, and being collapsible would be double nice. But... jeez. I'll wait till I hit the lotto - for real, I won $4 the other night, but that don't change my lifestyle much.

They collapse into cutting boards; think of them as cutting boards with raisable sides. So they actually remove an extremely messy step, moving the brisket/ribs/turkey/roast etc from the cutting board to the prep tub.

Also, they have lids for storing/holding; you can trim, prep, rub, and refrigerate/hold all without changing vessels.

I wouldn’t have purchased the tubs, based on what I thought I knew about them. And they are ABSOLUTELY NOT a necessity. I got them from my Secret Santa. But had I known how useful they are, I probably would have gotten them; I’ve bought the disposable cardboard trays twice, those are 30 for $40, and I bought them because I use them and they’re worth $1 per cook. So are these.

When I got mine they weren't that expensive. But I would pay that for them. I use them for any large cuts - ribs, butts, brisket. Even chuckies. The fact that the sides raise to 3 different levels make them very versatile. I sound like a commercial for these guys - I'm not, but this is one of my best purchases.

I love my tub. It’s still at the lake house from Christmas beef Wellington. I find it’s really easy to clean and then I put it outside to air dry. Even the lid comes in handy as another tray.

I use a small Yeti cooler to warm my food in but it’s too small for brisket. Saw this recently but the whole cleanup thing gave me pause.

I may have posted this before...I wrap in aluminum foil and then with an old blanket. After that it goes into a cooler that has a bunch of bubble wrap saved from various packages I've received. Lots of insulation properties with that combo.

Tip, if you didn't already know, preheat your cooler with hot water from the bath tub faucet.

My wife bought me the three set of tubs and the blanket as a gift. The tubs are awesome, use them all the time from start to finish on a cook, except cutting on them cause I don't want to mess them up. Seasoning made easy, so many different uses for them. One of my favorite BBQ tools. The blanket zipper is quite large so it's easy to open to spray out if it gets messy. I've only used it a couple times so I'm not sold on its use yet. Not sure a brisket wrapped in foil, in the blanket and held in a tub is as good as the towels and cooler. Doing ribs today, so I'm going to wrap in foil when done, put in blanket and tub and see how good it holds temp while resting..

I got a $5 coupon to Ace, so I ordered one locally and it should be here today. What the heck, right? I figure I can triple down by wrapping in foil, then in the BBQ Blanket, then wrap in towels, then in a cooler. THAT should cambro until the heat death of the universe, right?

I sorta like this idea. This would help keep drips from messing up all the other towels you use and then having to do laundry. I will wait for your final thoughts. I generally 'power cambro', = lower my smoker to 150ish for 1-2hrs and that is my faux cambro, so I don't do this method much. I do when I have a ton of pork butts to do for an event though, and I want to hold them overnight.

I love the Drip EZ tubs. I use them all the time. They are especially great when you are making a ton of ribs or chicken.

I'll just continue to use old gym towels for keep briskets and other large cuts warm.
