    Creating Labels for Rubs/Seasoning

I think for Christmas this year I am going to give out to friends and family some of my rubs (salt and no salt) and I'd like to create or work with a company to produce good artistic labels that will not shrink, fade and fairly scratch resistant.

So I thought I'd go to the experts. Anybody have some links to some companies they used or how you all did it.

    Thanks

Well funny you ask this. I know this is NOT what you are asking for, but sharing in case it strikes anyone else's fancy.

An idea I recently had was to use those cling-on oil change window stickers, but blank ones, and see if they cling well to the plastic shaker bottles. My reason for this was I wanted to hand-write what the bottle is, but not have it be a permanent stuck-on paper label that fades, messes up with washing, and doesn't remove well. Hence the oil change sticker idea.

I got as far as ordering some blank white ones (very hard to find blank ones on Amazon, they all have "Next Service Due" on them but I finally found a pack of 50 or so blank white ones). Not available for Prime shipping, so they took a month to arrive. When they arrived, guess what? They were not the blank white ones I ordered (and waited a month for) they were the Next Service Due ones. I could've gotten those ones in 2 days.

Anyway, sorry for the boring story, but if like me anyone may be wanting labels that you can write on, remove and toss, repeat, this may work.

Appreciate the story and it is not boring. I always appreciate the paths that others take.

We did Christmas presents of dried spices a few years ago and got them from and printed by Avery. We paid a little extra for submitting our custom artwork but they have templates with artwork you can use. You have to buy about a gross but with a little forethought you can leave space to identify various blends or ingredients. I think a gross is just over $55 using one of their templates

Thanks again. I think I will go with Avery. I'm not looking for anything fancy and the other mentioned label producers want you to upload your graphic or create a graphic and that is just beyond my time and artistic ability.

I have ordered custom decals and labels from www.stickermule.com. They use your custom design to make the labels. The shipping is fast. My sister who is a graphic designer turned me on to them, if they meet her approval they are doing a decent job.

Looking forward to more suggestions. I made a collection of rubs as gifts this past Xmas and had my wife hand-write all the labels. Would love to have a good quality options.

For brewing I’ve used labels from www.GrogTag.com - their bottle and keg labels are great. Don’t think they have anything small enough for this application.

You might check out home brewer supply sites. You might be able to adapt beer or wine label-making solutions to your needs.

For my hot sauce cottage business I ordered labels from Print Runner. There was a minimum of 200 though - 2" X 2" for 5 oz bottles.

Thanks Dave. I'll give them a look. This might be a stupid question, but do you still sell your hot sauce? My son loves hot sauce.

TripleB I'm out of hot sauce but have a batch of original recipe in progress. Hopefully my pepper plants will produce enough to do another batch of Hatch hot sauce too.
