I just watched this video at Woks of Life and discovered I've been holding chopsticks the wrong way my entire life.

How To Use Chopsticks

Chop stick song:
(Verse 1)
In a world of forks and knives,
I stand looking at these sticks with sighs.
They clatter and they clink,
But my food just seems to sink.
(Chorus)
Oh, why do I hate chopsticks so?
Is it the way they let my noodles go?
Or how they dance in others' hands with grace,
While I'm here losing the food-chasing race?
(Verse 2)
I've tried to pinch, I've tried to grab,
But all I get is air and a chance to jab.
My sushi rolls away, my rice just mocks,
These chopsticks are my culinary rocks.
(Bridge)
They say it's easy, just a simple trick,
But I'm here feeling like I'm in a slapstick flick.
I'll stick to my spoon, my trusty old friend,
With it, my mealtime woes will finally end.
(Chorus)
So, why do I hate chopsticks so?
It's a mystery wrapped in a dumpling's dough.
I'll admire from afar, the art they bestow,
But give me a fork, and I'm ready to go!

Used to use them that way, it did work better. But now with the way my hands work I do the typical American lower down the sticks way.
I wish I could still use them the right way you get way more control AND grip. My current way obviously still works or I'd just use a fork

Great article! I liked the storage solution they showed in the drawer, just nice and neat! I keep our sticks next to the stovetop for easy access.
any one use chopsticks for omelets, to continuously swirl as you cook?
And, I always enjoy eating with chopsticks. I’ll have to show my wife this video, maybe it will help her with them as well.

I learned to use them when I lived in Japan. Still use them for many things. The secret is that the chopstick the bottom stays firm in the hand and you use your index and second finger to control the other one.
There are dozens of pairs in our house but the traditional 10 in. bamboo with round, wide tip is used most of the time. There are many lacquered pairs in nice boxes that Japanese friend gifted us but I don't like them. To slick to grip most foods. Korean chopsticks are the hardest because their made of stainless steel of aluminum. I can't use them at all.
