Good to know, Harry . The ones with removable plates that Cooks Illustrated tested were two Hamilton Beach models and one George Foreman model. Too bad I can't test the model I've been eyeing before buying it.

Maybe we could get MH or Max Good to get one and review it for us?? Just a thought...

I just looked at the Cusinart with removable plates that may be similar to what you have, Harry . I think I may get that one. I'm getting the second in line, the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe because it's got a larger cooking area than the basic Cusinart Griddler but still has the removable plates. I can get it from Bed Bath and Beyond with free shipping and a 20% off online coupon that makes the overall price cheaper than buying from Amazon.

    Thanks for the advice.

You won't regret it. I just made a Cajun Turkey and Virginia Ham panini. Added Swiss and Provolone cheese, a hint of Worcestershire and some Sweet Baby Rays buffalo dipping sauce. Put it on the Griddler for about 3 minutes and it was done. Heaven on Earth!

Here is a nice review of the features of the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe, comparing it to its predecessor/little brother the Cuisinart Griddler: http://www.theblackpeppercorn.com/20...roduct-review/

Geez, Kathryn ... I just convinced myself (and the DW) that we can't live without a sous vide circulator. Now you go and post something like this ... ... It's deja vu all over again!

MBMorgan , I'm tempting myself with a sous vide also. A friend is going to lend me hers to use for a while to see how I like it. Living life one indulgence at a time...

It really is a great kitchen gadget. I'm a sucker for every new countertop cooker/blender/oven/grill that comes around. Our basement is jam packed with once used kitchen gadgets that weren't up to snuff. This one has stood the test of time though, almost 5 months now and it still has its own counter space.

My wife just asked me to surprise her with one. I'm going with deli sliced roast beef, sharp cheddar cheese and a healthy dollop of horseradish sauce, wrapped and pressed in a burrito shell.
