    Kitchen Scales…..Recommendations?

The kitchen scales I’ve got now, well they ain’t the best around. The readout on it isn’t bright enough, or in color, and it’s a little difficult to read sometimes, especially if I’ve got a plate of meat or whatever on it. The holding base is also round and a little small for my needs. I saw Mosca ‘s scale in his ham bone post and liked what I saw…which led me to this post. I’d like something a little bigger than what I have now, but not too big…..and also easy to read. I’d like to be able to put a full size plate on it and still be able to see the weight readout. Any recommendations?

With even a small plate on it, it’s difficult to read

I have the 22-pound version of this and highly recommend it if you are concerned about an 11-pound limit

That is a nice scale. Mine is an Ozeri.

Dang, you ordered that so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to say that's what I use too.

Thanks Draz, that makes my decision to buy it even better! That’s a pretty good batting average for it….4 for 4.

You know postal scales cost about a third of what you just spent and they do the same thing. Been using one for years now. Oh well, have fun with your new toy.

A few years ago when stamps.com was advertising on about a thousand podcasts, I signed up for a free trial that included a free postal scale. Never used it for postage, but it's handy in the kitchen - and free is nice!

The world seems to like the OXO Goodgrips with the display on a cord as shown above. I've trashed 2 and have a warranty replacement sitting on a shelf in the pantry. My current scale is from My Weigh. And FWIW ( in my opinion not much) it is the scale I see most often on cooking shows. It goes from 1 to 8000 grams (17.6 lbs) and you can run it on batteries or with a wall wart. AND..... Its capable of Baker's Percentages if that matters to you. Tis a bit large but not very heavy so I've got mine tucked away in the cabinet over the microwave.

I've been using this one for years. It was well regarded on the former King Arthur baking forum.

Good choice on the OXO. I had one similar to the one you purchased (mine had 4 buttons with more features) , Panhead John , for years before I bought a larger weight capacity OXO for myself and gave the 11pound capacity one to my daughter.

I wanted larger weight capacity (22 lbs/1kg) for weighing briskets, etc.

Well, Amazon said delivery today between 5-10, it got here at 5:30. 👍 Played around with it a little and I like it a lot! Even with a full size plate on it, with the extendable readout, I had room to spare. It felt well built and even came with the batteries, always a nice touch. Thanks again everyone for the recommendation!

I do like the blue numbers! My other one was just black and white, didn’t really care for it.

The inexpensive and unassuming Escali Primo Digital Scale can transform the way you bake and make you a more efficient cook.

this is what I have, it works fine. Wife said I was dumb for buying it but I overheard her telling her parents how useful it is

I'd recommend mine but it is probably too big for your needs. Similar to this one but mine is mint green

Panhead John is correct, a good scale is almost as important as a good thermometer.
But if only I could get him to try PBR . . . LOL

I have been using my Perfect Drink scale as of late. It’s pretty handy at mixing drinks but I’m thinking the OXO scale looks like a good alternative.
