Reese Bobby from "Talladega Nights": "Oh hell, Son, I was high that day. That doesn't make any sense at all, you can be second, third, fourth... hell you can even be fifth." Translation -- you do your best, that's what matters!
Using a medium Green Egg, and yes, I have a Thermapen!
A couple of weeks ago, I saw a sponsored post on facebook for All Things BBQ (atbbq.com) showing off the Paragon Casual Cast Iron Platter setter of the Big Green Egg. I thought it was neat, so I shared the post with a comment about being on my wish list for birthday in August, or Christmas. Well, I went to my mother-in-law's house this past weekend as it was my wife's birthday. Naturally, my wife was given her birthday presents from mother-in-law, and assorted relatives. After this was done, my mother-in-law says "Oh, I got you something else too.... but your husband will have to use it for you."
I plan on breaking in this weekend doing a reverse sear steak or two!
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

I'm envious, my Mother-in-law is the stereotypical Mother-in-law that everyone reads about but no one really has, except for me. There's simply no pleasing this woman and believe me, I've tried everything. From planting her spring flowers to cleaning her house to cooking for her, it's all to no avail, she still looks on me with disdain. She's 85 and has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease so she spends half of her day thinking she's a walnut. Meanest freaking walnut that I've ever come across.
