    Oiled my Wood this Evening!

Now that I have your attention I thought I’d share this with my fellow Pitmasters.

I love my wooden kitchen utensils. They are all bought from a company called Allegheny Treenware. I’ve bought them over the years at various craft shows we’ve gone to. (Yankee Peddler, Shaker Woods Festival, etc.)

Most of them are between 10 and 20 years old. They have never been in the dishwasher and I try to oil them every 6 to 8 months.

They are hand carved from various hardwoods. They used to have the wood species and year made carved into the handles but that has worn off over the years.

Allegheny Treenware’s quality is second to none and I know I’ll have these pieces for the rest of my life.

If you like wooden kitchen utensils check them out.

Those are indeed gorgeous. I just glanced over at my wooden utensils I got from Amazon and actually winced.

Great utensils they make my bamboo jealous. But of course, you probably don't feel free to toss those into the dishwasher like I do.

I am curious. With what kind of oil do you oil them?

Cool, I’ve got wood chopping block counters and use that on both the counters and on my wood spoons.

I have been thinking about trying my hand at making a few. You may have pushed me over the edge...

Hahaha, my grandma used to use those all the time on us when she was babysitting. I have a built in fear of wooden spoons.

          However, those are really cool.

A local retired physician is a wood magician. I had him make me matching right and left handed wok spatulas matching the curvature of a 14 inch wok. And a bean masher, for refried beans.

Those look great! I'll have to check them out. I have several bamboo ones. I always hand wash wooden kitchen tools, I never machine wash them.
