Data loggers, wouldn't these be neat.

Plug in any K Thermocouple, then plug directly into the computer to log data. Wouldn't have to worry about connections and all that mess. Just let it log, then transfer to computer.

Wait, what? This thermologger stores the temp data and then downloads it to your computer? Or does it just download realtime to the computer which means you have to keep your laptop close to your smoker? It was not clear (to me at least) from Thermoworks' info. I got confused when I saw the Data Collector as an option which then downloads the info to a computer.

In any case, it looks like a sweet option, especially with Thermoworks thermometer reliability.

No realtime, bring it in when the cook is done. I'd like to provide graphs with my cooks so folks can get a visual on approx. cooking times.

I make graphs all the time, either by plotting old school or by entering the data points into Excel. That Thermologger sure would be a nice toy to have.

My ICelsius didn't jive with me, need to try again.

Hard to get past info from the Maverick when I get up in the morning. Those things are really into current conditions.

Seems nifty. But for a bit more you could make/buy a Heatermeter and realtime monitor 4 temperature probes. Also web based access to view it remotely. Annnnd PID controlled pit fan.

This is probably geared more for industrial use. Say a heat treat pit that needs the information for metallurgical reasons and proof that they ramped up temperature to X degrees, maintained for Y hours and did a ramp down over Z hours.

I'm so not building anything so I would have to buy. Not that worried about remote access and I already have a fan.

They also have some with 2 ports, and while you could use for industrial purposes, no doubt the large amount of K thermocouples that could be used would fit many applications.

              These would be the bomb

I've been using the Thermologgers for years with some of my clients. They have both Ethernet (TR7) versions and wireless versions (TR-700W) that I've used. There are other products as well.

The wired ones have a web interface that you can log in to in order to view or download the data.

The wireless ones (at least the ones I've been using) are designed to hold the data and then send it to an FTP server at predefined intervals.

Clients are in food service industries, encapsulators making diet/nutrition products, distribution company selling chemicals that require cold storage.

Auditors appreciate that we can generate reports for long ranges of time, showing min/max and average temperatures and humidity levels.

That's how I discovered the Thermapens and Thermopops.

PS - If anyone has questions about a specific model, I'll try to answer (or get the folks at Thermoworks to provide one if I can't)

Thanks man. I work under people that have to worry about HACCP and all that good stuff. I'm just worried about getting some good graphs. hehehehe
