I like mine a lot and really like it. I use it on a Weber Summit 6 burner.

I've got this for my gasser as well (the standard, not the pro). It's awesome, and super slick (I season with flax seed oil). It's pretty heavy, but I use it so often that it normally just keep it on the grill. Highly recommend.

Another vote from me on Steelmade. I’ve only used mine a few times, but have been very happy when I do. I have the case/cover and stash it in a corner when not using it.

I store mine in a case as well, when not on the gasser.

A lodge cast iron griddle fits nicely on top of the grates on my Weber gasser. Another good choice would be grill grates, flat side up. I’ve used grill grates flat side up exclusively for the last year or so on my gasser.

Lodge has a couple different cast iron griddles (thinking $30 to $60). Also steelmade has a more expensive option at $100.

Did you get the reinforced griddle top? Have you seen any warping? When heated does it expand much?

Yes I went with the reinforced design and glad I did, early during use it had some temporary warping during warm up but after some use it has held up well.

I went with a Little Griddle for my old Genesis and it works pretty well. I take out the grates and the griddle fits right inside and rests on top of the flavorizer bars.

My dad has one that sits within his Weber - I think it’s made by Weber? But I do like the kind fzxdoc posted - I’ve almost bought this a few times, but decided my lodge griddle worked for what I use it for.

Weber now makes custom griddle inserts for Genesis and Spirit gas grills made since 2016. I would look at one of those, as it handles routing the grease safely to the bottom catch pan on the grill. Most aftermarket solutions don’t do that.

I agree, jfmorris that the Weber griddle inserts are nice for the Genesis and Spirit grills. They don't offer one for the Summit or I would have considered it.

I purchased the grease catcher for the Steelmade griddle. It sits right under the holes in the griddle. It makes it easy to empty the grease each time I use the griddle.

Griddling can generate a lot of grease at times as you well know. Channeling the grease down the back of the Weber gasser to the trough that leads to the grease catcher might be an out of sight, out of mind situation, allowing for grease buildup and possible fires if not cleaned often. Plus it may be a bigger mess to clean up depending on the size of the grill. Maybe that's why they don't make one for the Summit. It has one looong trough! Of course the same situation exists for the Steelmade if the grease catcher is not used. All that grease has to go somewhere.

I wonder what kind of guidance Weber gives on use of the griddle on their gas grills. Back when I was using Grillgrates on my old Genesis as a griddle to cook bacon, I had to keep the burners on low in order to avoid a grease fire flaring up when the dripping bacon grease hit the flavorizer bars. I could preheat on high, then go low and the bacon did just fine, and the grease filled the foil cup under the grill.

Looking at it, their full insert drains grease in the back corner.

jfmorris , I'm assuming that the grease goes from the back corner of the griddle down part of the gasser's inner wall to the slide-out trough to the foil pan grease catcher. I'll have to study that on my Summit. I'm too lazy to go upstairs and out to the deck to look at it right now.

I'm pretty picky about grease in my gasser, which is why I purchased the grease catcher for the Steelmade griddle.

Kathryn I am picky and sensitive to leftover grease igniting in my Genesis after the "incident" that warped the body and destroyed two Grillgrate panels... It was leftover grease from a cook of Korean short ribs (kalbi/galbi).

I now burn off for 10-12 minutes on high AFTER each cook, and preheat on high for 10-12 minutes before the next, and check the grates and the body for grease before the next cook. If I saw some old beef fat congealed on the bottom like I suspect was there, I'll fix it.

Thanks for all the help, I just ordered the steelmade starter kit and drip pan, I use to own a Blackstone griddle till my son and his wife came up for a visit and then when they left it disappeared.
