Grill Pad to Cover 18'x18' Are

My company built me an 18'x18' outdoor cooking are and an 18'x18' indoor prep are. I'd like to cover most of the floor where the grills and fryers will go with something to protect the concrete. I've asked and epoxy on the concrete isn't doable so it'll need to be something like a grilling mat. Does anyone sell this stuff in rolls? I looked and gym flooring, but I'm not sure it can take hot grease

What might work are welding mats. Usually good to about 1800F and comes in length up to about 12’ and 5’wide. Hog Heaven is one, and I believe Weldsafe is another. They are not cheap. Some can be even longer and wider. Just a thought.

For garages, they make rubberized floor covering that can be rolled out (probably glued down, or not) that is something different from an epoxy coating. Good news is it's not overly permanent if that's an issue

Why is epoxy not doable? For that size you can buy a kit (or kits) from Lowes/HD and DIY for fairly cheap, it's very straight forward. If it's new concrete you do need to wait a while before applying the epoxy, but it's VERY simple to do.

It might be difficult to get the moisture level low enough for epoxy outdoors due to humidity.

It would help more if you were a flooring contractor. Perhaps ILMsmoke could tell us why epoxy isn’t doable.

To make a long story short on "Why not Epoxy". I work for a company that wants everything to be redundant as far as looks. This outdoor cook area is attached to the outside of our commercial game cooler. My plan is to redo all the floors of the facilty in two years and they want to do it all at once. the mats would be a 1-3 year hold over...

that makes sense, I'd make sure to use a fiber cement mat if possible for the cookers. Outdoors for long periods some of the rubber/fiber products could leave some residue increasing the prep costs for epoxy down the road.

So, I doubled down and got the floor epoxy. Should be getting done this week! I'll post pictures when done...

That's just terrible that your company insisted on building that for you. Now if I could just get my bosses to insist on doing that for me....
