Can you recommend a heavy duty offset spatula?

So this happened when I was making smash burgers.

I want to replace it with a heavy duty higher-end full tang spatula. Any recommendations?

Dexter Russel S8696. I've had mine for 35 years. Yah ain't gonna break it, nohow.

I have found it works well to use a heavy wide spatula with some other tool to push straight down. I have bacon press handy, which also works great for Oklahoma/Onion burgers.

Agreed. I use a cast iron press on top of the spatula. That break occured as I was flipping the burgers. I was pressing it hard against the griddle to get all of the crust up and it snapped.

Oklahoma burgers are on my list to try!

447 results when searching for spatula's at WebstaurantStore. If they dont have something for you,i would be shocked. There shipping price can be out of line but if you find something you like possibly Amazon has it with free Prime shipping.https://www.webstaurantstore.com/search/spatulas.html

I was as looking there but struggling to filter down to what I want. I may end up going to a local restaurant supply store because we have many around here.

I’ve been using one of these for a couple years and so far it’s held up…

The Mercer Hell’s Handle 6x5 heavy duty turner is nice as well.

I tend to use the Dexter more often…if only because it’s in my BBQ duffel bag that I take to other people’s houses & the like…being blue it doesn’t look like anyone else’s spatula/turner. So there’s no confusion who it belongs to. ;-)

Cuisinart also makes a flat bottom round cast iron press that works great as well…if I’m not too lazy to drag it out. LOL Otherwise I’ll generally grab the blue handled Dexter.

That Dexter Russell is the one I use and it is fantastic for this purpose. Highly recommend.

Just make sure it has a full tang.... The metal goes all the way to the end of the handle.

Primitive but work and in my case they do get a good weekly workout. When it comes to the scraper / putty knife my preference is the 125mm = 5 inch and prefer the stiff blade v more flexible one.

Consider something like this… I’ve been smashing things with it for years…
It’s difficult to drop things with it too…
Search for oversized turner - cookie spatula…
Mine is 6 1/2” wide…. Plenty wide enough where nothing squishes out the sides…

I actually do have one like that. But I still want to replace the on that broke with a similar size and shape.

Honestly, I like holehogg 's idea best. That said, I purchased this a little over a month ago and love it. It's completely flat on the bottom and very sturdy.

I like the professional look of this. Have no doubt nothing like this would be available locally. This configuration gives the ability to work the force from directly above the meatball pressing downward.
I smash a few hundred patties every month and the trowel has served me well. They are built fairly sturdy because of its "intended" work and they cheap.

@Comfortably Numb I have to use parchment even with the stainless press I posted above. Well, not "have to," but it makes it so much easier.

This is what I use as well, almost identical. Absolutely murders those patties, can't be beat.

Met a couple of folks who were originally from Texas who now reside in Washington state. They run a fabrication company called DDR Fabrication. If you frequent IG you may have seen their work. I commissioned them to fabricate a sign for my outdoor cooking space, this thing is a beast. All powder coated layers of 12 ga, metal,
