Cool funnel to help strain deep frying oil

    Hi all,

I've been experimenting with deep frying lately and ran across this really cool and useful funnel for straining frying oil back into a container: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D8TJ6BB

It's a three-funnel set (different sizes) that comes with two removable mesh screens. Here's the largest funnel, which I use for straining oil, with the smallest mesh screen:

It does a really good job! After my oil has cooled and the particulates have pretty much settled on the bottom of the pot, I ladle the oil in to the funnel atop a large mason jar. The mesh will catch most of the particulates. (I don't ladle or pour in the last bit of oil as by that point all that is left is a lot of particulates.)

Here's the other two funnels in the set along with the other, large mesh, screen. It even comes with a cleaning brush that helps clean the nozzle (not shown).

I have that set and it's good for catching the stuff when straining broth.

Too bad it doesn't have a finer sieve to catch the fine crumbs from chicken or fries frying. I use a sieve with a really tight mesh for that so that the oil is pretty much particle-free.

Thanks for the timely posting. When I sold my business, one of the "parting gifts" I awarded myself was a case of disposable paint strainers. Been using those for years to filter deep fry oil, but I'm near the end of that supply. This will be a more lasting, as well as versatile, solution.

I have one similar to the one linked below. It comes with with a fine mesh sieve that does catch most everything, but not the superfine particles from frying.

You do have to clean it when it gets clogged though.

I like the looks of that! Thanks!

I've been using a plastic home brewing funnel with a fine mesh strainer. It works but it is pretty big and unwieldy. I'll probably buy this stainless set for cooking oil transfers, thanks for posting.
