    Defrosting the outdoor freezer...

This is the first really nice day I can do this. It's simple, but a PITA. But because it's simple, there's no need to go into details. You just turn it off, empty it, let the ice melt, turn it back on and refill it.

But I do want to show why you should save those big styrofoam boxes. This is what it took to hold a 7 cubic foot freezer. I had foolishly destroyed one large one; if I hadn't, three of those plus my RTIC would have been enough.

In the sun, at 72⁰, it took about an hour to defrost. Right now I'm letting it get cold, then figure 10 minutes to refill. Easy peasy!

Just looking at the first pic I would have thought you won a meat raffle with not enough freezer space. Similar to a "Corner Gas" episode on Canadian Television.

We just did ours the other day. Wife had been asking me all winter to get it done. Easier in the winter to store everything temporarily outside. Of course i waited for a warm day and had to do the cooler thing like you. Oh well, it's defrosted now.

Like you, I was tossed on whether to do it when it was colder, and it would take longer, or when it was warmer, and would defrost faster, but I would have to store the food. I too decided to do this.
