    Probe Port for 55g Gateway

I’d like to add a probe port to my drum. I’d like it to be a nice permanent solution if anyone has any good ideas. I’ve looked at the Yoder probe port add-on and like it, but I’m not sure of the flat adjustable tab on the radius of the drum…

I took off the thermometer and then went to the hardware store. In the plumbing department I found an adapter with a small hole. I could screw in, Then I ran my probes thru the adapter . Cost was about $5

      What about one of these?

Port cover and hardware for creating a digital thermometer probe in a kettle grill. This cover comes standard on our Slow 'N Sear® Kettle Grills

They use that on a 22" grill just fine. The hole is small enough that the curve/radius is not a problem, and your Gateway drum is about the same diameter as a 22" kettle.

Yeah - it only has a 1/2 inch hole. The other option would be a high temp silicon grommet in a hole, but many of those require much larger holes.

Something like these would be another option:
