My ACE seems like they are BGE promoters and maybe Weber as a far distant second.
        1. Not receptive to explain Kamado cooking-especially to the discount store, throw away grill soon briquette people.
        2. Don't feel up to explaining how a great cook can be done on any Kamado or Grill even if it's not a BGE.
        3. Kind of pushy but, can there be some incentive such as coupons or a bag of lump for skill demonstrators?
4, My KJ is heavy and not really designed for portability. My old Akorn would be a player.
        5. I sometimes use a Flame Boss. Can the NBBQA provide/let me try/some other stuff?
        6. So I imagine most will be looking for burgers or hot dogs. My dime? I very rarely use my KJ for that stuff anyway.

        Sorry.

        M.

        Pitmaster
Thank you for offering to participate and cook at a local Ace Hardware on Saturday May 5th for The Ace Neighborhood BBQ Fest. Ace Hardware is the Official Retailer of the NBBQA, and we are excited to partner with you for this event. Your support of Ace Hardware is very much appreciated. We are looking forward to you bringing your Weber, Traeger and/or Big Green Egg BBQ skills to life at the store front to help us develop more backyard pitmasters in neighborhoods across the country.

        Ace Retailer
The pitmaster has volunteered to help you have a successful demo at your store. The pitmaster is affiliated with the NBBQA and will come to your store to help cook and demonstrate to your customers the benefits of being a backyard pro by using a demo grill from Weber, Traeger or Big Green Egg. Please use them as a resource, as this is a relationship that can benefit both parties through co-promotions and education. These pitmasters are competition cooks, distributors of BBQ products, work in the BBQ industry, or work in the BBQ catering business.

It is suggested that you both contact each other to discuss the details and expectations of the event so each party can be prepared to best support the event. The more these details and expectations are discussed up front the more successful the event. Below is a brief outline of some of the expectations and discussion points that should be communicated.
        Stores will provide:
        • Demo grill
        • Food (after agreed upon shopping list)
        • Clean location in front of store
        • Introductions to all sales associates and tour of store (break room, water, restroom, etc.)
        • Power if needed (extension cords)
        • Display of accessories and grills to be sold
        • Garbage cans
        • Sales expectations and specials during event (special offers, free assembly/delivery, etc.)
        • Access to any health department requirements (gloves, hairnet, hand washing station, etc.)
        • Supplies (paper towels, spray cleaner, plates, etc.)
        • A "go-to" person for the pitmaster to work with the day of the event to help with any needs/questions
        Pitmaster will:
        • Provide special items you need to cook
        • Openness to help store sell the BBQ experience
        • Promote the brands the store is selling
        • Show up on time and have a positive energy to engage the customers
        • Help the store personnel on any tips/tricks used to help become a "pitmaster"
Suggestion of items to be discussed on planning call or store visit:
        • Who will provide: tents, tables, music, other supplies
        • Set up and tear down times
        • Menu of food items being demonstrated
        • Any specific needs of either the store or pitmaster

Seems like you have to be a "professional" and not just a skilled and experienced pit cooker.

I wish I still had an Ace Hardware around the corner. Home Depot and Lowes drove them out of business.

For those interested, I don't think you need apply unless you are actually a member of NBBQA.
