Our last meat market was Chop's Specialty Meats. They actually have a real meat counter with fresh beef and pork. Its another meat and booze place.

I am not posting any pictures or any other description as we had a really bad experience at check out and we are both very angry. I sent an e-mail to the owner and I'm awaiting a response.

Here’s what happened at Chop’s Specialty Meats….after picking out our selections we went to the front counter to pay. Behind the counter there’s a glass window you can see into the front parking lot, an L shaped parking lot and I parked in front of the building by the door. As I was paying, the 20 something girl who was the cashier, pointed and asked me if that was my car. I said yeah, the grey one there? And she said “yeah, that’s y’all’s car?” and I said yeah, why? She then asked me why I parked like that. I said, what do you mean why did I park like that? She said….at an angle instead of pulling in straight. WTF I thought! 😳 I said ….I pulled in at an angle just like the car next to me did, what’s the big deal? There was a car parked at an angle as we pulled in and I just parked next to it thinking that’s how you were supposed to park….. She then said…you’re supposed to pull in straight between the lines, in front of the concrete stops. I said….first of all there’s no painted lines showing where you’re supposed to park [they were all totally faded away, only about 2 feet of one stripe was showing, barely!] I’m probably the worlds most careful parker, I don’t even like parking close to other cars, many times I park far away from others to avoid door dings. I was getting pissed and in a polite way I said….what are you gonna do, call the police? This wack job then said…..I am the police! 😳😳😵‍💫😵‍💫 What!? Anywho, me and David couldn’t believe what we were hearing from this nut job! She was starting shit with us, as customers, over something so insignificant as parking at an angle!?

I decided to just go before I totally lost it. While we were in the car and getting ready to leave, a lady who was also a customer, walked up to me in the car, I got out and she asked me…..what the heck just happened…while laughing. I told her and she said yeah I know, the counter girl asked me the same thing and I told her yes, that was my car. Apparently this counter girl/bitch was hassling everyone about parking at an angle. 🙄 To help visualize this, as you pull into the small parking lot, there’s about 4 parking spots in front of the building and several more on the other side. Whether you pull in straight and park, or park at an angle makes no difference as to how many cars can fit in. But the main thing is….theres no painted stripes showing the parking lanes. There was a PU truck around the corner from us as as we left, also parked at an angle…..🙄 This was the only nut job I’ve ever run into while visiting Louisiana. Maybe David can chime in with his thoughts and let me know if I left anything out.

I was in the process of paying when this started. I tried to explain that we simply parked the way the person beside us parked but she acted like she either didn't care or she didn't believe me. Also, if John had pulled straight in then the car beside us might have hit us when they backed out. I pretty much jammed my credit card into the reader, paid, and started to leave. I should have NOT paid and just walked away but this came out of left field.

I went straight to the car and forgot to take the planned exterior photos. I wish I would have then it would have shown the parked cars clearly. No reply to my email yet.

Little Big Cup in Arnaudville, our last stop of the trip. This was about a 35 minute drive over twisty roads and many turns with very little lighting, probably not a good choice for an evening meal for a Meat Up. Lunch would be OK though.

This restaurant is in an old building in Arnaudville and the main issue is parking: there is only street parking available which means you might have a bit of a walk to the restaurant after parking. The grocery store across the street does not allow parking except for their own customers. Luckily I found a spot close by.

John has pictures of the exterior which is pretty nondescript. Their name is on the windows but not on the ample false front of the building.

I didn't take many pics but here they are:

Appetizer - Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, this was very good! Almost more meat than roux. I got a cup and it came with an equal sized cup of rice.

Appetizer - My friend joined us and bought some appetizers for the table: Cracklin' Dusted Mac 'N Cheese Balls on the left, Crab Cakes served over fried eggplant on the right, both were very good.

Click image for larger version Name:	littlebigcup2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.39 MB ID:	1863476

Main course: Seafood Enchiladas. These were packed with shrimp, crab, and crawfish and came with fried crawfish on top. I could only eat one and a half and I was full!

There is an outside covered patio but we ate inside: we were worried about the heat and mosquitoes and flies. Turns out the temperature was great, I didn't stay out long enough to assess the fly/mosquito situation. In addition to the covered patio there is this small covered deck by Bayou Fusilier:

Cool old display cabinet inside the restaurant.

When we returned to David’s car after dinner, I noticed that his right front tire was a good 3”-5” farther from the curb than his rear wheels. I was aghast at this blatant display of parking irregularity! After I gave him a verbal beatdown concerning his total lack of parking skills, we continued our trip back to the hotel in silence….

More pics from The Little Big Cup in Arnaudville, La. This is a quaint little town with approximately 991 residents last year, according to AI. The restaurant is like an old house with wood floors and located right next to a bayou, I really enjoyed dining there, the staff and our waitress was great, personable, friendly and helpful. It was like dining at a friends house in Mayberry.

Front of the restaurant and a few street view shots of the neighborhood….

I ordered the fried shrimp appetizer and a bowl of chicken and andouille gumbo…

The fried shrimp was very good and it had some type of sauce below the shrimp which really elevated the taste. 👍 And these were Gulf shrimp too. The gumbo was excellent! I could tell this was a homemade roux made with love by someone in the family. This was no cookie cutter roux you find in some seafood places. There was an abundance of meat in it also. For the overall experience and ambience, along with some great food, this was one of my favorite places I’ve had the pleasure of dining at.

The shrimp sauce is honey Tabasco, John let me try them and they are excellent! I agree with your assessment of the gumbo - top notch stuff! Little Big Cup is a lovely place with amazing food.

This just came up in my feed: Chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois, a James Beard Award winner. A lot of his videos look a little click baity to me but he has done a couple where he goes to some of the meat markets for plate lunches. He posted a video of NuNu's in Maurice and Herbert's in Broussard and Vautrot's in Church Point yesterday showing the various meats as well as trying their plate lunches. The plate lunches look amazing, now I want to do a plate lunch road trip!

Shoot, he has two other plate lunch videos to watch before I come up with an itinerary. I'm watching another of his right now. He found a soul food place in New Iberia and he says the turkey wing is better than Laura's 2.
