There is a new Mini-Meat Up in the DFW area. Purc , Soonerpop , LA Pork Butt and jayjordan already plan to be there on Friday August 15. This BBQ Joint opens on Fridays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, so we are planning to meet at 9:30 am to avoid waiting in a long line. Because it is early consider skipping breakfast. If you plan to attend let us know so we can keep an eye out for you.

Cattleack BBQ. Hands down the most mouth-watering, homemade Texas BBQ your tastebuds have experienced! Voted top 3 BBQ spots in Texas by Texas Monthly.
I’m sorry you can’t make it. I am guessing that you are still in the workforce qnd Saturdays are your day off. We’ll keep that in mind for future Mini-Meat Ups.
We have 15-20 at a Meat Up and we had 10 last Saturday at the Mini-Meat Up. So, the way the numbers are going for this one Friday I am thinking about changing the name to Mini-Mini-Meat Up. LOL
Purc , Bill, Soonerpop , Don and I had lunch at Cattleack Barbecue this morning. While Cattleack slipped out of the top ten in Texas Monthly’s most recent ratings, the Que was still plenty good.
I am sorry there are no pic’s of food or the 3 of us, but honestly that platter of food after waiting in line overwhelmed me. Don and I got the Trinity which consisted of a pork rib, brisket and sausage. We both got the Hatch Chili Cheese sausage which I liked a lot, but I wouldn’t put it the top of the list of sausages I have. The brisket was moist and tender, but not particularly distinctive from any of the other brisket I have had at joints in the top 50. I thought the rib was the star. It was tender, and moist and it seemed like they topped it with their mustard based BBQ sauce which was quite good. I am not a sauce guy, but I usually sample the sauces and thought this one was really good.
For sides I had the Hatch Chili Mac and Cheese along with the Burnt End Beans. Both were good. The Mac and Cheese was very creamy and could have used a little more Hatch Chili for heat. The beans caught me by surprise in that they were sweeter than I anticipated and were a little like a cross between baked beans and ranchero beans.
That's it for me. I hope Purc and Soonerpop will have time to check in and add balance to this review.

At Cattleack BBQ in Dallas ranked #15 in 2025 by Texas Monthly, I had the 4 Horseman sandwich -brisket, pulled pork, regular sausage, pork rib, cole slaw and BBQ sauce on a bun. I added a side of burnt end beans, hatch chili and cheese sausage, pickles and pickled red onions with a diet Dr. Pepper. It was all very good. It's hard to say that one place is much better than another at this level. We got there at 9:30 am for a 10 am opening and we were about 20th in line. Fast service, seating on long picnic tables inside with several tables outside. Parking is mainly on the street. My company at brunch was LA Pork Butt and Soonerpop, they were both great. About a 1-hour drive from my house. BTW, credit card only.
Heres the Texas Trinity. Ribs, brisket, sausage (hatch chili + cheddar) plus 1/4# turkey and burnt end beans. I got the extra because my wife is out of town for the weekend at a sewing retreat with the girls (don’t ask me??), and I can eat it later; took home half. It was all really good including the cornbread. Also good company with LA Pork Butt and Purc.
