Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Just a thought. There is certainly enough food, and enough else, to fill a weekend. I’m kinda far from SC to plan it, but this is the age of the internet, with no real physical boundaries. We need an east coast meetup! It would be pretty hard to match WayneT’s North Carolina fest, but my thought is that if Panhead John can put one together, then I can, too. (With generous help and advice from him, of course!)
I love Charleston. I worked for a company HQ’d there back in the mid 80’s. We had meetings there once per quarter. I got there many times in addition over the years. But it’s been 12 years or so since I have been there. So I guess I am due.
When I checked Charleston room rates a month or so ago, I found really high rates, out of our usual price range. A check just now, totally different, not sure why. Both times I checked dates for next April, but now I’m getting more favorable results. A Homewood Suites in North Charleston are now pretty reasonable. The same hotel in The Historic District shows all April dates are sold out. Anyway, here’s what I found just now…..Remember these are regular rates before any Group Discounts.
They are a fantastic time, just like a normal day on here but with activities... and maybe a few more shenanigans and stories. And food....lots of food
Was just in Charleston SC last year to visit a relative and did a mini meatup around the area. Also, all the way across the country for me.
Recommend doing a grave tour at night. Charleston’s burial practice is very similar to New Orleans with depth to ground water very shallow. Tour, history and ghost stories by the tour guide made it very interesting.

I have Kim going to Lafayette. I hate flyin. Hope this will give her the incentive to make these a regular thing. She is her own boss, Photographer, meaning if you do not work you do not get paid. Going to be a fun test bench.
We love Charleston. Parts of Charleston remind us of the Garden District in New Orleans but with a British flair. Some of the food has a Creole flair, and the BBQ is different but good. Driving for us would be a two day long trip. Our daughter used to live in. Columbia, SC, so we are familiar with the trip.
It’s a solid one day drive for us, assuming I’m up to sharing the driving. Otherwise an easy second day in the car. So it meets the don’t need to fly test. I’m hoping we’re able to work it out.
I have some pretty significant stuff lined up later this year/early next year so kinda out of vacation... BUT if I have a chance to even swing by for a day, I might.
I voted "Dunno, its far" but really its financial. I would love to go to Charleston. Not sure I can swing it this year, already did a trip to Idaho for a wedding, plus the Texas Meat Ups, so travel money is mostly gone.

I've got two reasons to be in that area, so maybe?
I've got a friend I used to work with now living in Beaufort, who's been asking me to come visit and stay with him a few days, and another friend I currently work with that has a condo in Hilton Head he'd rent to me at a discount.
