There are a few Spring festivals in Southern Louisiana (Crawfish, Etouffee, Boudin, etc.) and was wondering what the best one to go to is? Not looking at the Mari Gras, want to go to something around end of March, early April for a weekend.
Hey Dean, here’s 2 of the most popular festivals in Louisiana. It’s been a long time ago, but I’ve been to both of them. The people in Louisiana know how to put on a party, trust me! Go for the food, stay for the Cajun music….One of them is in May, so I don’t know if it works for your schedule though.

Festival International de Louisiane brings five days of events to Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. Experience music and culture from around the Francophone world.
I haven’t been to the Boudin Festival but I googled it just now. It does look like fun! If you’re into Zydeco music, I just looked at their lineup for the weekend and they’ve got some big names in the Zydeco world on the roster. Are you flying in for the weekend? If so, bring a backpack style of cooler if possible, something you can put in your luggage. Why? The BEST andouille sausage I’ve ever had is sold at The Best Stop in Scott, La. Scott borders Lafayette and you’ll be…con’t.
It was sometime in March one year that my advertising friend told me there were still 365 or there about festivals in Louisiana. Let the good times roll!
The Jazz Fest is last weekend of April and first weekend or May in New Orleans. The music is wonderful and you won’t find better festival food anywhere. It is the real deal.
Some little kids tried to shake us down for money while we were parking our car for Jazzfest. They thought if they waved their hands around like they were helping us, we would give them money. It didn't work.
