    An NC/VA mini Meat-Up

    One of the most wonderful things about this forum is getting to know members personally. The NC Meat-Up back in May, 2023 introduced me to some great folks of the Pit and deep friendships were forged.

    Tonight, DavidNorcross, his wife, Teresa, and my wife, Mari Jo, and I got together in Halifax, VA at Molasses Grill to eat good food and renew those friendships. David recommended the restaurant from personal past experiences and his recommendation was spot on. We enjoyed delicious food, an overly extroverted server and great desserts and cocktails.

              What a wonderful time for sure. So good to spend time with WayneT and Mari Jo T.

              I have a feeling that this may be an ongoing event. Others are right. What happens here on the Pit each day is special. But, it is the relationships that are built “offline” are lasting.

              Will add a few photos of our own. We started with Southern Baked oysters and also pork belly and cornbread for the appetizers. Sorry no photos there, we forgot.

              For the main courses Teresa enjoyed a bourbon and molasses grilled pork tenderloin with mashed sweet potatoes, collard greens and coconut black eyed peas. I had a cornmeal crusted pan fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans and whole grain mustard gravy.

              We finished with molasses pudding for desert. Of course in between there were some great beverages had by all.

              Great times with wonderful friends. What a fun night!

                  This is so great to see! Although I will confess when I saw the topic title, my first thought was that you were pulling together another, limited gathering for NC & VA folks and I said to myself "Cool! Maybe I can go this time!"

                    Food looks spot on and delicious. Great that you are able to get together and enjoy each others company. One question, what are those green things in the Lobster Bisque?
